The power of community πŸ–€
I was gonna charge for my community because I really wanted to win the Skool games... πŸ˜ƒ
As much as I knew doing so would have made me millions and allowed me to meet some of my mentors, something felt off...
Last year I bought the domain ServeOthers.com
I had no idea why I bought it, but I knew those two words meant something important to me:
Serve Others.
Right before I was planning on launching my PAID community on Skool, Agency World, I couldn't shake off this weird feeling...
Something didn't feel right.
Then it hit me... πŸ₯Š
I was launching the community for the wrong reason. ❌
I was focused on serving myself, not others.
I was NOT launching the community for the MEMBERS sake, but my own.
Making the move not only would've tainted my brand, but it genuinely would have tainted my view of myself. πŸͺž
"For what does it profit it a man if he gains the whole world but loses his very own soul"
Days before the launch, my friend and mentor Joel Kaplan messaged me and said "Matt, don't charge anything, give it away for free."
He reminded me of what was more important than my net worth --> my name. πŸ‘ˆ
I tell you all of this because whether or not "Serve Others" is a phrase that means something to YOU as a community leader, it definitely will mean something to your community members.
And the strongest communities you find on Skool, I promise, will be the ones focused on service over sales. 🀝
Listening to the pod with and , my biggest takeaway was this: Sam didn't even focus on making money from Skool in the beginning, he just wanted to build something great.
DO THE SAME with your community, and the money will follow. πŸ’°
"Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it."
There's by no means anything wrong with charging for your community...
Just don't forget what we're really building these communities for, like I almost did. πŸ™
Messages like the one below make it all worth it.
Much love ya'll, serve others. πŸ–€
