Posting on skool is different than other socials…
Whether it’s here in this group, in your own space, or elsewhere… are you making community focused posts or audience focused posts?
It’s easy to get swept up in how we post on other platforms and bring that to skool… and then wonder why it’s crickets in response.
Remembering the difference between community and audience is the key.
When you have an audience, typically you are up on stage delivering your two cents, experience, thoughts, and story… maybe with a “raise your hand if…” thrown in here or there.
When you are building community, it’s imperative to remember that you want to start a conversation, just like in real life… and continue conversation later on etc.
So, in an online community, share your wins, your woes, your questions, etc… but think about how you would talk to peeps in real life in front of you 😉
Do you just go on a monologue for 20 min? Or do you pause and ask questions and allow others to share etc so the convo keeps flowing?
Before posting ask yourself when you reread your post if it’s asking others for input, to share something they resonate with etc. If not, maybe it’s time to reword it.
Do you always have to do this?! Nope, but the more you thread this through your posting, the more engagement will happen, and the more the convo flows.
Then, instead of only ever leaving statements under comments, think about if there is a question you could ask in response to get more convo going.. not in a contrived forced way, but being genuine.
The more we choose to be others focused, the more the magic can and will happen.
Also, when you are with friends irl, do you only talk about one topic or thing??
Prolly not. So, why do we wonder when engagement tanks in our skool group when all we talk about is the niche and no other human elements, like where are you from, got weekend plans, what’s a win and a goal, fav movie reccs, fav place to get work done etc etc.
When we post about other things too, it opens up conversations that are easier to jump into and other folks start replying to each other etc 😉
Just some food for thought, what’s your biggest takeaway… OR… what one thing not mentioned here that helps keep your community engaged??
