Membership subscriptions payment questions

Let's say I want to officially start my group on December 1st, but I send an invite email out today. Can I adjust the memberships of those who sign up so they don't get charge until the 1st, or so that they expire at the end of December instead of exactly 1 month from now?

And if I invite someone in for free on the 1st for the first month, will I have to delete their membership and make them subscribe again for the standard rate?
