Instant Membership Approval On but still having to approve requests

Just today an error started where we DO have instant membership approval on for our free Skool, but now we are getting dozens of join requests that we have to confirm manually. I checked plugins and the setting for instant approval is still "ON" and this hasn't happened in the past. Obviously this will increase complexity for my team and decrease consumption since people can't immediately begin the coursework when joining Skool.
