🚫 How I Kicked Spammers Out of My Community-— No Mercy Edition 🚫
Let's get real – if you want a strong community, you have to be ruthless about keeping spammers out. No exceptions.
But first… what is a spammer?
A spammer = someone who sends you a DM without any connection or context. You’ve never interacted with them, you’ve never asked for it, and yet, here they are – pushing some offer or service you didn’t ask for. And if you don’t respond, they just keep going. 💬💀
I am sure some of you are thinking,
“There are good spammers though, right?”
My response: Are there really?
So, let’s get into how I shut them out for good. Here’s my process:
✅Screening Questions 📝
Most community owners ask generic questions. I went the other way. I made sure my questions filtered out exactly the types I wanted to avoid.
My questions cut straight to the point.
I ask why someone wants to join.
By the way, in case you are wondering what I do:
""I help Skool Beginners PICK & TEST a community topic. And then start and launch that Skool Community without Spending any money—All free of Charge.""
Here is an example of a good question:
Which of the following BEST describes why you want to join?”
  • Option 1: “I have a clear community topic but haven not created a community yet.”
  • Option 2: “I am interested in creating a community but not sure about the topic should be”
  • Option 3: “I already have a community, I need help with it.”
  • Option 4: “I am just here to look around.”
Next I ask, “Are you willing to book a ‘Start Here’ call to join?”
The above combo of questions 2 and 3? It tells me instantly if this person is serious or just here to spam.
In case you are wondering how about question one - my question one is always asking for an email.
✅ Mandatory “Start Here” Call ☎️
Most spammers don’t want to commit to a call – so we easily weed them out.
And if they do hop on the call? We will figure out fast if they’re a fit… and, if not, they’re out.
✅ The Results 🚀
Yes, this takes time – those 10-minute calls add up. But for our small community, it’s been worth every second.
Engagement is up. Our members feel valued because they’re joining a curated space.
Hope this helps someone keep their community clean - someone who is tired of spammers clogging up their group. 🙌
