A newsletter for community owners maybe?
In the past few days, we saw some really weird things happen to the algorithm, and some people got mad, publicly and behind closed doors.
Today, I see some people saying "It's nice that is transparent and tells us they did something that did not work".
And I agree, I LOVE the transparency.
BUT... if they had clear communication with the community owners, they would not NEED to tell us that AFTERWARD.
They could have said, two days ago : "Hey guys, we are about to test a new version of the algorithm, let us know if you see anything weird, we want to make this better."
Everyone would have been RECEPTIVE about the thing. Everyone would have wanted to HELP.
Instead, they said nothing, a lot of people got mad (emotional intelligence is not something everyone has a lot of haha), and they had to manage tons of posts about it.
So yes, they are good at saying "sorry we messed up", but I would really love it if they could be upfront instead because it would be more positive for the whole community and probably more helpful for the dev team.
So, maybe we could have a newsletter about the upcoming changes, right before they happen, so we would not have to speculate, AND we could actually really help out, as users?
This could be very positive, and it could also make it easier on the moderation and support team 😅
P.S.: I would be happy to write that newsletter haha
