ChatGPT Usage limit

I attempted to go to the playground and input some text which is normally too long for ChatGPT 4, as per the video Jason showed and got the following message.

You've reached your usage limit. See your usage dashboard and billing settings for more details. If you have further questions, please contact us through our help centre at help.openai.com.

I was informed on my usage dashboard that my free trial had expired on 31st May, and I needed more tokens in order to continue. The request was to Upgrade to the pay-as-you-go plan, increasing my usage quota to $120/month. This is the first time I have seen this and would like to know if this is normal, as I am already paying $20 as a Plus member.
