Brave Habits - thoughts while running
The name of this group didn’t come from nowhere. It runs deep in my lore! But I just went for a run and it gave me the ideas for Brave Habits. I’ve always run and tried to keep a habit of it but always “I’m moderation.” Like, running more than 10k just didn’t feel necessary. Then about 6 months ago I pushed past 10k to 8 miles and thought, why not just do a half-marathon? Then I rolled my ankle. I was out for months. And got out of shape so much that even as I got back into the game, running scared me. I didn’t want to get even farther behind than I was by risking another injury. (That was the 3rd time I rolled my ankle in a 6 month period.) So today, I’m not just starting my running habit again, I’m being brave again. Thoughts while running led to a whole monologue of insight about one of my life mottos, “everything in moderation, including moderation.” But when does that become a form of actually holding yourself back? If it holds you back from too much “bad” does it not also hold you back from too much “good”??
