I’ve tried a few courses online over the years but they typically are just watching a composer building a composition, which isn’t something I struggle with all that much. Where I do struggle is getting the ideas in my head out into the DAW.
I’ve tried piano sketches but I can’t imagine what they will sound like when fully mocked up and when I try and orchestrate a piano sketch , if I don’t hear quickly it sounding like what’s in my head I loose motivation and interest.
I think what would be useful would be to see the teacher, explaining the ideas and concepts in their head, even roughly vocalising those ideas or humming the ideas to show the student what’s going on inside the teachers mind and then showing skills and techniques to get those ideas quickly into the DAW.
What are your thoughts on this? Does it sound like something that other struggle with? Is the solution as simple as the teacher explaining what they hear in their head and recreating that in the DAW?
