You have Realism Skills? Even if you don’t, here’s a Tripballs Challenge to take your Art to the Next Level.
.
Hyper-Realistic Art is needed in this world.
But if we only made that, there wouldn’t be anything SERIOUSLY new.
After years on this earth we’ve learnt how things look
Learnt what elements, details, textures, shapes they have…
What would happen if we were to mix all of them up?
Deconstruct reality and invent New Looks for it.
If we were to use our hyper-realistic rendering abilities to create something that couldn’t possibly exist, yet.
Who knows, you might stumble across an idea that significantly improves human life.
.
If you DON’T try this, you won’t
Satisfy a Curiosity you didn’t know you had.
Give another Person a Trip looking at your Art, remodeling pathways in their Human Brain.
Push boundaries and discover what’s past what currently exists.
Push more, and discover even more.
This is an addictive, intuitive journey that you wouldn’t want to miss out on.
.
I’ve drawn as a kid, drew little hills, fairies, eventually humans and i was obsessed with getting it extremely right.
After years of trying I eventually achieved insane skill.
I realised that my favourite art doesn’t look real though.
It has strong character and juiced details.
It had less of Everything and more of what’s Amazing.
Therefore I left out all the elements that I didn’t feel like drawing.
I simplified their shapes and made them prettier, added details that fit from elsewhere.
I made only the lashes and shadows realistic, I changed the shape of eyes, applied juicy cartoony lines…
My Art became Unique AND Skilful … I was hooked.
I’ve displayed human faces in such an unusual and aesthetic way,
People stared and called me Picasso.
.
This is your new Challenge:
DRAW WHAT YOU LIKE + UPGRADE THE BORING BITS WITH STOLEN GOODS.
DO NOT draw the parts that bore you. Replace them with what’s more Fun.
Incorporate elements, details, structures, shapes, textures, lines from ANYWHERE else.
Take from Animals, Luxury Goods, other People’s Art, Your Mom’s Car..
It doesn’t make sense to add those, that’s the point.
You’re making Bets on what new sense could look amazing.
Make as many drawings as you can.
So many will fail, and so many will be the best Art you’ve ever made.
I’ve done it, so can you.
.
Step By Step
1. Look at the thing you’re drawing and make a mental list about 5 details you like about it.
I have a half-dry Ficus Leaf in front of me.
I love it’s smooth sheen, the lush colours, the fine lines that run across it.
I love its weird curves, and slightly twisted leaf stem.
.
2. WRITE DOWN 10 BETS. “What happens, if I …”
What happens,
if I made the stem longer, make that extremely aesthetic curve bigger?
if I only drew its sections with gaps in between?
if I only painted the colours of it, no details?
if I built it from simple wonky shapes?
if I drew it with the leaf structure invisible?
if it was built from CDs?
if I built it from shiny rectangles only?
if a tree had only 5 of these leaves, but they’re giant?
.
3. WRITE DOWN 10 RANDOM THINGS IT REMINDS YOU OF.
You can use details from those things and add them in. Or add the whole thing in, merge them, try whatever sparks a thought.
Does this leaf remind you of a cockroach?
Or a luxury car seat?
A boat?
A bed.
A coffee bean.
The twisted leaf stem reminds me of a war siren that can turn any direction.
.
4. DRAW FOR YOUR LIFE.
Sketch out these ideas, quickly.
Fill multiple pages.
Make 6 quick crappy drawings for every individual idea you just wrote down.
Every try will improve the next try.
Go through all your ideas and flow with what comes up.
You’ll likely become obsessed to see the next drawing.
You now have a big pile of idea matter.
.
5. You can now use this technique and just produce hundreds more of those ideas every week and see how cool you can make them.
You can fully render out your Favourites and fill all shapes in with how it would look if it was realistic.
Be loose and have fun. You’ll likely end up with a mad style of your own.
