Welcome.
I'm Freddie Kemp, the Grandson of the Survey Officer of 1st Airlanding Light Regiment RA, Lt Rod Pearson, who landed by glider on Sunday Sept 17th 1944 as part of the Divisional Troops Glider-borne force.
His regiment, firing 75mm Pack Howitzers, was dug in around the Old Church in Lower Oosterbeek, firing in close support of the infantry fighting in Arnhem at the Bridge. Befriending Kate ter Horst, aka 'The Angel of Arnhem', who with her brood of young children retreated into the cellar of their house so that wounded troops could be treated in the Regimental Aid Post now occupying her house, a family connection that has spanned 3 generations to date.
We welcome interest, new information, interest in tours. Over time, content will be added here.
There is a momentum to tell the human stories of the time in a new film. Two daughters of the Surgeon General, Lipmann Kessel who treated the wounded in that Aid Post and I have teamed up to create a Production Co https://kessel-kemp.com/
