Quora + Reddit taking your traffic
My traffic on my main site went from 480,000 page views per month to 120,000. The first 50% of losses came from higher authority copying my keywords. The second drop seems to be caused more by Quora/Reddit ranking above me. Google seems to be looking for different points of view on debatable topics(traditionally a good sign to write a blog post. So what are our options? 1Tighten up the content 2 Build more links 3 Add more voices to your content. Let’s go into more detail. 1. Tighten up the content Honestly, I spent years writing shortish form content 600-800 words and spending a considerable amount of time simplifying and trying to make my blog content easy to understand. AI content is the opposite of this content. AI content is often outranking my “short” articles(I have two sites in the same niche) What seems to work very well now is obsessing over the first 500-800 words( human written) and then adding some bulk with AI. 2. Building links Building links is expensive and I won’t catch my competitors as they have software tools that are a goldmine for passive links. Not worthwhile IMO. 3 Adding voices I am going back over some articles and adding opinions that appear in Forum threads even if I disagree with them. “ Some people on Reddit think…..” You can also use something like “A few years ago people thought….” This is all well and good but getting experts to give their opinions and why is really what we are aiming for. This is the way forward as reaching out to people in your niche to contribute to your article can also lead to good relationships(and more links!) Sell them that the contribution will be good for their EEAT(Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness) What are your thoughts?
