Software Box Renders in Leonardo
One of the more useful templates on Creative Fabrica are mockups. I often use their software box and book covers for various projects and products.
Tonight I thought why not try to replicate something like this in Leonardo? Here are my results and prompts.
TLDR: it's ALMOST there - text placement is sometimes a little off, even when specifying where to place it, and extra gibberish text is sometimes added. However, I hand-picked the best results to share here.
I'm using the Leonardo Phoenix model and the Graphic Design Vector preset style. Note that you can't use input images with Phoenix (yet).
I was looking to add a quick placeholder image on Artstation so I could create a draft for a new product (you can only save the draft post if you have a product image uploaded). I first came up with my own base prompt, below, but decided to let Leonardo's Prompt Enhance automatically improve it.
Base Prompt: Professional Vector Illustration Of a software box, with the text "Placeholder Image" in bold, stylized block letters, realistic professional design concept
Image #1 uses this improved Prompt:
High-contrast, sleek, and modern professional graphic design featuring a flat vector art illustration of a software box with clean lines, precise geometry, and subtle gradients, set against a crisp white background. The box's surface is adorned with the bold, stylized block lettering of "Placeholder Image" in a metallic silver font with a slight 3D embossing effect, evoking a sense of premium quality and sophistication. The vector art style is reminiscent of cutting-edge digital design trends, with precise attention to detail and a focus on visual balance and harmony. The overall aesthetic is professional, sleek, and eye-catching, making it perfect for use in software marketing materials, advertising, or packaging design.
This worked pretty well, but I was looking for something more like a traditional software box. I rewrote my base prompt: Professional Vector Illustration Of a blank software box against a light gray background, realistic professional design concept. The box is orange in color and stands vertically in the image.
Results of the blank box are in the second and third images. The Leonardo-enhanced prompt gave much better results as you can see in image 3:
A sleek and modern professional graphic design flat vector art illustration featuring a blank software box prominently displayed against a soft, serene light gray background, evoking a sense of realistic and professional design concept. The box, rendered in a vibrant and energetic orange hue, stands upright and vertical in the center of the image, its clean lines and crisp edges accentuating its sleek, contemporary design. The vector art style ensures a crisp, high-contrast visual aesthetic, with bold lines, geometric shapes, and a sense of depth and dimensionality, drawing the viewer's attention to the central focus of the software box.
I added a text instruction to the base prompt, and ran the image generation again with auto-enhance on. Here is that prompt, and the result in the 4th image.
A sleek, professional graphic design flat vector art illustration of a blank software box against a light, soft gray background, evoking a realistic and modern design concept. The box, standing vertically in the image, is a vibrant, energetic orange color with clean lines and subtle gradients, giving it a sense of depth and dimension. The bold, sans-serif text "STYLE REFERENCES" appears prominently on the front of the box, centralized and horizontally aligned, in a darker shade of gray that provides contrast to the box's bright orange hue. The overall design exudes professionalism, simplicity, and elegance, with ample negative space around the box to create a sense of breathing room and focus on the central element. The vector art style is crisp, precise, and detailed, with subtle rounded edges and a subtle hint of shadowing to give the illustration depth and visual interest.
This last image with the text was the best one of several attempts. I'm getting consistent images like this without gibberish text in other places, but it's still not 100%. I'd also love to be able to add some artwork on the box beneath the text - still experimenting with that.
There's not quite enough control over the design yet, but I think with Leonardo's integration into Canva this type of product packaging will eventually be easy to create. We can hope!
Try these out and feel free to share your results here!
