There’s ONE small mindset tweak I’ve taught to all my clients that is proven to end procrastination and boost productivity.
And whether you’ve realized it or not, business is actually very fucking easy.
The only reason business is difficult for you is because of your perception of it.
Let’s take sales calls for example.
In sales calls, all you do is ask questions and explain what you do.
You do that ALL the time in the real world.
Recording a video for a course, YouTube video, etc?
All you do is set up your phone, click record, and start talking.
And from a base level, most of the tasks you do consist of simply moving your mouse around and clicking some keys on your keyboard.
That’s it.
So start seeing the tasks for what they truly are from a PHYSICAL point of view and they won’t be as intimidating anymore.
In a recent post I made, I talked about something called the 4% task.
Essentially, I took the 80/20 rule one step further.
The 4% task is the 80/20 of the 80/20 (If you do the math, you’ll get 4%)
The 4% task is the #1 task you could possibly be doing that will give you the most growth.
It could be sales calls, recording a YouTube video, sending outreach messages, creating your product, etc.
So right now, I want you to think of what your 4% task is from a PHYSICAL perspective.
Easy, right?
This entire time, all the resistance and fear you’ve felt towards the work has completely been a product of YOU.
So start seeing the tasks for what they truly are, not who YOU are, and they’ll get easy.
And then on top of that, only see the entire task in small STEPS.
A huge mistake people make is thinking of their work as some huge, insurmountable thing that’s going to take a lot of effort.
I’ll give you an example.
Let’s say you were lying in your bed, scrolling on social media when you suddenly realized you needed to go to the gym.
And then you realized it was leg day. You immediately picture yourself doing some heavy ass squats to failure and then some heavy leg extensions and you imagine the burn.
Guess what? There’s a very small chance you’d still go to the gym. You’d be like “fuck that” and then go back to scrolling lol.
But if you had only seen the next step immediately in front of you, there’s a much higher chance you would’ve gone.
So instead of picturing the squats, you just pictured yourself getting your shoes on.
You got the shoes on, now you just have to walk to the front door. You’re outside, now you just have to get in the car. Now you just have to drive to the gym. Now you just have to check-in. Now you just have to do a light warmup. Now you just have to do a set, etc.
And before you know it, you’re doing the heavy ass squats.
Because once you get started, it gets a lot easier.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
Now apply this to your 4% task.
For instance, in sales calls, instead of picturing yourself handling objections and pitching and arguing over the phone..
Just tell yourself “Okay, I just need to sit down. Okay, now I just need to join the call. Now I just need to say hello. Now I just need to ask some questions. Now I just need to say my pitch that I’ve already rehearsed a bunch of times, now I just need to answer questions, etc”
So if you can combine these two simple mindset shifts of seeing your tasks from a physical perspective and then only seeing the next step immediately in front of you, the work will suddenly become very easy.
That’s it.
Hope this helps you out.
Just win,
Andrew
