Meet-Up Nov. 14th
*MEET UP LOCATION* - BaLi Quan - Hai Coi - 7pm https://maps.app.goo.gl/LjxjJFHc3jYobyyJ8 We've got quite a few members in the group based in Da Nang now. I think its time we met up for Dinner and Drinks! I'm thinking 7pm Thursday night but also open to Friday night if that's better for the most people. We will Đi Nhậu (Vietnamese style casual eating and drinking) nothing fancy. I have two places in mind, one for chicken wings and beer another for seafood and beer. Have a vote and let me know if Thurs or Friday better for everyone.

Great idea, will this become a regularly occurring type meet up? Would love to make a trip over to Da Nang from HCMC for a few days to check it out finally and meet up with like minded people.
Hang Son Doong
Was wondering if anyone in the group had traveled to Hang Son Doong cave? Any recommendations for places to stay or tour operators that take you to the cave etc? TIA 🤙🏽

So close! 😆 I'll definitely use Plannin again, seems relatively hassle free, just as good if not the same UI for other booking sites. Might do another booking for a quick weekend trip soon.
Bank Account in Vietnam
I wanted to start a new thread on this topic. It seems there's a lot of concern about opening a bank account here and whether getting a bank card is possible or not. (not possible on tourist visa) I feel kind of silly for forgetting to mention this, but 99% of transactions are made using a QR code with your bank app. Even the smallest local restaurants and vendors at the local market accept payment by QR code. You could pay for a piece of fruit up to your entire rent with QR code. Therefor, a bank card is not at all necessary. It seems the best option for most people will be to have a WISE account, and transfer money cheaply from your home bank account to the VN account. You would have to withdraw a small amount of cash in person from the bank but this would last a long time if you mostly pay by QR code. TIMO is the easiest bank to open an account with. I have a VN bank card and I can't remember the last time I used it. It's in a drawer somewhere 😂 Hope this clears things up for some people 👍

I have a Techcombank account and debit card, but hardly use it. I prefer not using mobile pay/QR codes, cash most of the time, home country debit or credit otherwise works for me. VN bank account is for random stuff 😆

@Travis Carrasquillo no, not a tourist visa. My wife is Vietnamese so that's how I'm here. Took about 45 minutes to sign up for the account at the bank, and had to go back a week later to pick up the debit card. Pretty straightforward for the most part
Where are you from?
This group has already grown to over 200 members! One of the coolest parts of international travel is all of the interesting people from around the world that have a chance to connect. I'm curious where everyone is from? Hope to get a chance to meet as many of you as possible! Feel free to add a GIF that represents your country 😂
