Sound calibration/reference
Hi everyone, I recently decided to test the SoundID sound correction program (there is a free trial version available for 20 days), and I was very surprised by the result. In a nutshell, this program is used to correct the sound signal so as to reduce the inaccuracies of sound equipment (headphones, speakers). In my case, the headphones I use from the factory have definitely boosted high frequencies (6 to 10khz), after correction I feel that the sound is much more balanced and it is easier for me to see details in the mix. Do any of you perhaps use this type of software? I am curious about your opinion because I have only been using it for a few days and maybe you guys have more experience with it:) Anyways, have a blessed day🤟

I’m using SoundID reference since about two years and it’s great to EQ the room out of the speakers ! On the headphones I trust it a little less because I’ve had results where the high end was too accentuated with SoundID on some Audeze headphones and it led to weird mixes but overall I would say it’s super useful especially for critical checking ! Also I use it after my speakers internal correction, so first the speakers are doing an initial correction of the room and SoundID irons out the rest, and it’s worked well for me va :). You have also cheaper alternatives I think like roomEQwizard or something ? But personally I prefer something a bit more automated
Audio consumption?
Hi everyone, Just a quick question. What type of speakers do you usually listen to music on in & out of the studio? Laptop, AirPods, car speakers?

Out of the studio, I used to listen on my Huawei Freebuds 4i and they were actually pretty pleasant, as well as in the iPhone speaker, nice to check off the high end is too shrill :) in the studio Genelec 8350B and Audeze LCD-X but I much prefer the comfort of my Sennheiser HD650s which I use most of the time for headphones :)
Black Friday
Hi everyone, So what will you be buying this Black Friday in regards to instruments or plugins? For me I might get Jaeger or Nucleus and already bought Damage 2.

@Mike Kruiper Do you notice any difference with the Kontakt 8? I have the 6 player but for now it works so I’ve been delaying the upgrade for now :)
EastWest Fantasy Orchestra or Era II Medieval Legends
Hi guys, how are you doing ? I’m looking for a library to complete my fantasy and RPG instrument needs, I already have the Musio 1 and some more asian things like Jade Ethnic Orchestra, do some of you have experience with both EW Fantasy orchestra and Era II and could you tell me how do they compare accoridng to you? Thank you!!

Hi Fish, thanks for your comment ! I actually went a little berserk and got the EastWest Hollywood Orchestra and fantasy orchestra as well as their world bundle with gipsy, Ra and Silk (not a fan of subscriptions). I am thinking of getting Grimm later but Im still wondering whether the Era II would be a useful addition (Ive heard the instruments are good for solo use). Ive also seen things about Goblinity and Orcophony but I was a bit turned off by the UI and sound from the demo. So I think at this point I can also use a mix of different things I have for medieval solo things but the GAS is still there with the ERA one 😀 do you use the Era one yourself?

@Fish Oscine thanks do much for the recommendation ! It happened to be on sale two days ago so I grabbed it as the amount of instruments and value seems huge ! I was never tempted by spitfire stuff somehow but this one seems great, I can’t wait to play with it :) I also got the Era II one which was on sale at 130€ when billing in California! All in all a very happy Black Friday 😀 I have passed on Grimm for now as there seems to be quite a lot of overlap between ERA 2, the fantasy orchestra and solstice, and from relistening to the demos I feel Grimm might be a little too dark for me, although if I stumble on a pot of gold I might let myself be tempted 🤓
