Introduce Yourself! Where are you from? What are you passionate about? What are your goals within this community?
Hi All! My name is Mary (she/her), and I live in Arlington, WA on a beautiful 20 acre farm, Pragtree Farm. I have been co-stewarding this land with three of my friends for a couple of years now and am honored to be a part of this intentional community. This farm has a rich history of many hands contributing to caring for this space in a way that helps to regenerate the earth. Tending to the land is truly one of my passions. I am excited to connect with you all and be a part of this collective, where we can share what we are working on and what we are learning and get feedback from others on how to best take care of the land (and each other). I am a landscape/farm designer who is passionate about regenerative farming practices. I love bringing designs to life by embracing my artsy side, but really, it is my goal to help others and put my all into this "work." I want to continue learning how I can help land owners, fellow stewards, enthusiasts, and daydreamers explore the tools it takes to create a sanctuary that fully embodies permaculture ethics and is soothing to the soul. We are in this together and can't wait to meet you! P.s. Say hi to your dog for me.

Hello permaculture collective! I’m living in Edmonton, Alberta and have woken up in my mid thirties to find that I have not lived a life that is in keeping with my own values, nor one that is sustainable in the long term. I wrote poetry to help wake myself up, but that’s another story. My 10 year old son is non-verbal autistic and my wife and I have been discovering that we are “high-masking” autistic as well. She has a formal diagnosis, while I do not. We both are in a state of constant overwhelm which has been essentially nonstop since the end of high school (where we met). Now I’ve lucked into a spectacular job that allows me to work from anywhere in Canada 100% from home, and opened up the possibility of a soft-landing to a simpler life. We’ve got her whole family considering a lifestyle change and if we are successful in talking them into it, her mom and step dad own two quarter sections in southern Saskatchewan, right next to the Belle Plain Potash mine that I really want to believe could work for us to practice permaculture/rewilding on. But I am totally lost on where to begin in figuring out how contaminated the soil is likely to be. My mom is a witch and has been growing a food forest in Southern BC for over a decade now (which doesn’t work for us for a variety of reasons), so I have a decent understanding of the basics of permaculture and plan to learn a lot more in the coming years, even if we don’t manage the seismic change I’m hoping to accomplish in moving my family out of city life.
