Hi! I'm looking to upgrade my skates in the next couple of months, but I don't have a local roller skate shop that I can go to to try different ones out. Since I can't try them out, it's hard to know what will work for me. Here's what I'm working with and some questions that I have: -Currently skating in VNLA A la modes. I have VNLA Gorilla high impact nylon plates with a 5Β° kingpin angle. 1. I mostly roller dance (a mix of styles) and am wondering if I'd benefit from a higher kingpin angle? Should I increase this angle gradually or just make the jump to 33Β°? 2. I don't have super wide feet, but they are too wide for Moxi skates to be comfortable, so I'm assuming I'd have the same issue with Riedell skates. I like the width that I have in my VNLA A la modes, but there is some room in the front of my skates that makes me think they might be too long. I'm prone to foot problems, so I want to make sure my boot fits snugly but not so snug that it results in numbness and foot pain/damage. I've heard mixed things about SureGrip Boardwalks & Chaya Melrose skates. I'm considering the VNLA Luna boot, but am not sure if I need to size down another size. Any recs for skates that are comfortable for wider feet but aren't too roomy lengthwise? 3. If I go VNLAb again I definitely want to do a custom build with different plates. Any recs on plates that are sturdy but light with a good kingpin angle for dancing? 4. My current plates don't allow for me to customize my cushions, but I'm thinking I wanna go softer. Any recs on cushions? 5. Is the ball of my foot supposed to be over my front truck or over the wheels? 6. Do I just need to make a drive out of state to a roller skate shop and try stuff out? π It's not ideal but I'll do it if I have to since these skates will be an investment and I don't want to be shipping things back and forth. Thanks for any and all help! π I'm just getting overwhelmed researching online and figured I'd try getting advice more specific to my needs.
