The good news? With some focused work, you can fix this and even reverse the effects. Hereā€™s what Iā€™d recommend: 1. Start with Scapular Awareness Your shoulder blades (scapulae) are key. Focus on exercises that strengthen the muscles that pull your shoulders back, like the middle and lower trapezius. These muscles are often weakened from slouching. ā€¢ Try: Scapular retractions or ā€œwall slidesā€ to wake up these muscles. 2. Core and Thoracic Spine Mobility A strong core and mobile thoracic spine (your upper back) will help keep your shoulders in a healthy position. ā€¢ Try: Cat-cow stretches or thoracic extensions over a foam roller to loosen up tightness from sitting. 3. Postural Adjustments During the Day Pay attention to how you sit. Your screen should be at eye level, and your shoulders should stay relaxedā€”not hunched. I would advise against that,Admittedly I used to use that but itā€™s Turning off and teaching your muscles that you need for correct good posture,I have exercises that will pull you into a good postural position overtime without you having to think about it!
