HUGE UPDATE: CORE 66 - 14 DAY PLAN POSTED
I'm super excited the first two weeks of the Core 66 is now posted! If you're feeling a little unsure about what to train over the 66 days then this is where I recommend starting. The Core 66 will be focused on having more on and off-lead control. I've condensed the exercises I think give you most bang for your buck into the 66 day plan so you can make the biggest difference in the shortest timeframe. Please do go check it out and let me know what you think. This is a course that will certainly evolve with time but will be a ridiculously valuable free resource for people. With that in mind, if you have anyone you think would benefit from it then send them a link to this group! I'll post the following stages over the next few days so do make you continue to level up so you can access them. 🙏

@Ave Paasuke and @Nick Benger I have three phases of dog ownership: child, pre-adult, and adult. In this most recent phase, I have incorporated training with every walk. For example, when I was doing rally obedience with two of my dogs, I would randomly throw in relevant commands. Alas, I now have a fenced backyard (garden) and seldom "walk" my dog.

@Nick Benger yes. It wouldn't hurt *me* to develop the habit of walking everyday, though. 😒
Training Challenge #2: Self-Control
Let's go again. As it's almost time for New Years Resolutions, and we've just got through Xmas maybe we could do something around the theme of self-control. I'll allow you to interpret it as you wish, for example you could do some tempting leave-its or impressive holds. Same rules as before. When you've done it post a video here, when we've got enough entries I'll make a poll and the winner recieves a £10 Amazon Gift Card. Looking forward to your entries!

@Steve Goodall did you tell him which one to take?
Susan Days 4 - 6
My person has been preoccupied lately, so I have really ownly worked on her ability to do recalls. I try to make it easy by not moving too far away from her and by keeping my ears open. This afternoon, however, a couple of things made me decide to test her patience. First of all, I was hanging out with the sled dog girls; they are always up for fun. Second, Frito offered to share some of her leftover kibble from last night. What did Susan expect? She was using that silly antler whistle, too, which is hard for her to blow at the best of times. At 8F, she could barely make a peep. I couldn't hear her call me, you know? 🙉

@Nick Benger 😆 It's all relative, isn't it? I complain when it's 80F.

@Nadia Kellie-Smith I'm sorry, Nadia. The intelligence is male Irish Setters--red or red & white--is always debatable. 🫣😉 My boy is a Red & White, by the way.

I'll get us started.... Has anyone got any goals or resolutions for the New Year? I'm feeling really good I was able to build a daily dog training habit this year and I'd like to keep that momentum and build a new habit moving forwards. I'm leaning towards that next habit being fitness but dreading the idea of starting at New Years and the gyms being packed and unpleasant.

@Nick Benger I would have more time for the dogs and cat. I would love to read more books again. I don't know--I just waste so much time.

Joli Rouge, my IRWS, wants a better partner. He learned about this group & decided to see if it would provide the motivation I need to make it happen.
