Welcome to CNC Startups! Introduce Yourself! 🎉
I’m Ryan, the founder of this group and a passionate CNC entrepreneur. I’m super excited to have you all here. This community is all about helping each other grow, learn, and create with CNC machines—whether you’re just starting or looking to take your skills to the next level. Here’s a little about me: - I’ve been working with CNC machines for 10 years, building a business and helping others do the same. - My favorite thing about CNC is turning a simple design into a product that people love. - Fun fact: I love Bourbon and Tequila, and have over 100 bottles in my collection/stash Now it’s your turn! In the comments, let us know: - Your name and where you’re from - What stage are you at in your CNC journey (just starting, hobbyist, business owner, etc.)? - What you’re most excited to create or learn with CNC - A fun fact about yourself! Looking forward to getting to know everyone and seeing what amazing projects we’ll create together!

@David Purbaugh Hi David! It's awesome to have you here! Your journey from working in the ER to running Catsheep Creations sounds both challenging and rewarding. The equipment you have is impressive, and it's great to hear you're considering a CNC like the Shapeoko 5 Pro! While the price tag can be daunting, brainstorming creative ideas for products you can make and sell is a smart approach to justify the investment. There’s a lot of potential in combining your 3D printing and laser engraving with CNC capabilities! Welcome to the community—looking forward to seeing what you create!

Best Starter CNC?
Right now all I have is an OM Tech 80W Co2 laser, but I would like to get a CNC router. Which machines do Yall recommend for starters?

- Shapeoko 4 - Sturdy, easy to use, with multiple size options. - X-Carve - Versatile, with a supportive community. - Onefinity CNC - Compact, durable, and easy to expand. - LongMill - Budget-friendly with a solid build. - MillRight Carve King 2 - Affordable and great for smaller projects.

@Ang Payne as per my knowledge You can't purchase it in Australia, you have to buy direct from Carbide3D , here is the exact link https://shop.carbide3d.com/collections/cnc-routers and they provide a door - to door delivery :)
WHAT UP
Hi everybody. I've been a contractor all my life. Started my own business when I was 22 and I'm 60 now and retired HELL YEAH !!! LOL I bought this CNC machine 3 months ago and I LOVE it. It keeps me still in the game, just in a different way. LOL I have been doing some 3D inlays and signs, but I have SOOOO much more to learn. I use CarveCo Maker as my software and UGS as my G-code sender. So if there is anyone out there that can give me any Information whether I know it or not I'm in. Here are a few things I have done, but what I would love to know is, how do I take a design and set it up with my software that I had got from someone else? For an example Ryan I bought one of your designs "Sky ball" and my software won't let me set it up. I know I'm doing something wrong LOL so any help would be GREAT. Hope you like the jobs below and if there is anyone, I can help PLEASE let me know. Thanks Jim

@Jim Ventola For setting up designs from others in CarveCo, here are a few tips: 1. Import the Design: Ensure the file format is compatible (like STL, DXF, or SVG). You can import it through the File > Import menu 2. Check Toolpaths: Sometimes designs need toolpath adjustments to work with your machine’s settings. Check that the toolpaths match your machine’s capabilities in terms of bit size, depth, and speeds. 3. Troubleshoot Placement: Make sure the design is positioned correctly on your workpiece in CarveCo. You might need to adjust it to match your workspace layout.

You're very welcome! I'm glad you found the advice helpful. VCarve Pro is an excellent choice for more complex projects, and it's great to hear that you're enjoying the learning process. If you have any more questions or need further assistance as you explore these tools, feel free to reach out.
Wood Hardness
I saw this pop up and thought it would be interesting to everyone! What is the hardest wood you ever worked with?
