Aint no sunshine before audition
Hey guys, been kind of unactive in the community lately but I’m back. Today we were rehearsing my performance for the Berklee audition which is this Saturday. Was hoping to get some feedback on the performance and if you have any suggestions, I will take them into account.

@Anirudh G.a So this is how it went in my audition, it could vary depending on the judges. You first perform the song that you have prepared for them, then you play some chords over a backing track that you choose the style and key and then improvise over it. I chose a shuffle blues in A minor because it was what I felt comfortable with but they give you many options to choose from. Then one of the judges sat on the piano and played some melodies which I had to immitate with my voice and my guitar in the same octave. Then came the ear training which was basically triad recognition (major, minor, augmented, diminished, sus4 and sus2) and chords with the 7th (maj7, min7, dominant, minor major 7, 7sus4, 7sus2, half diminished and fully diminished). They didn't ask me for interval recognition but I've heard that it is something that they do (2m, 2M, 3m, 3M, 4th, tritone, perfect 5th, 6m, 6M, 7m, 7M, octave). Then they clapped a rhythm with their hands for two bars and I had to replicate it to perfection. Finally, and what was the most difficult for me, reading. They put a book infront of me and made me sight-read a melody that if you did correctly, it would become more hard each time. And then the same but with some chords that had some difficult tensions in them. Hope this helps!

@Kaleb Blankenship I feel like I didn't get enough preparation since the auditions were originally scheduled for the end of February and not November. We got told that they would come in November and not in February at around the end of August so we did not have much time to prepare. Nonetheless it was still hard work.
Community Update and Big Changes Coming
In case you missed the feedback Friday where I touched on this, there are big changes happening effective immediately. I'll give you the changes then the reasons why I'm making them. - Luan's School of Music will become free again - Feedback Friday will be available for free for all members with priority to higher level members - Feedback Friday will be once per month - No more private lessons can be won through leaderboards - Brand new musician course giving you the tools from being a noob to professional level skill will be released in the coming months. For starters I love sharing advice and feedback so Feedback Friday has been an amazing outlet for me and well received by the community. I find most members are posting once a month and consolidating everything into one day for me is better for my time. I'm launching a private coaching community which will give people 1 on 1 access. I'll be delivering a massive amount of value to paying students which will also allow me to do content full time. What's coming in the paid coaching community: - It will be a yearly commitment paid up front. - When you sign up you will get a 90 min 1 on 1 call to map your goals and discuss your practice strategy. (All lessons are recorded and delivered privately to you) - Every 3 months we will host a virtual concert followed by 1 on 1 check in calls (60min) to refine your practice strategy. - Weekly Group calls similar to feedback friday, you will submit videos but we will all be in a private call through zoom so you can respond in real time with each other. Times for these calls will most likely start between 7-8am AEST Sunday's (To make it easy for all timezones). - All group calls will be recorded and privately shared in our community in the classroom tab. - You will have access to dm me whenever you like with questions or post in community and I'll respond within 24 hours weekdays and 48 hours weekends. In full transparency I will be pricing this community in the future at $4449 USD/Year this a reflection of how much it would cost to get an hour of my time per week at less than half of my performance rate/hr (Which continues to increase). This is my personal goal to achieve by end of next year and I believe we deliver that level of value to students. When we launch it in Jan/Feb it will be $2999 USD, once affiliate links are available members in the paid community will receive 25% of the yearly subscription for anyone who signs up through their link. To start I will cap the community at 50 members with 100 members being the ultimate goal to cap at in the end.

@Anirudh G.a At the moment I'm practicing the song I am going to present in Berklee which is Aint No Sunshine but John Mayers version. But that is not the only thing you must have in mind when preparing for Berklee since during the audition they ask many more stuff. The ear training bit I've got down, my sight reading aint the best but I'm working on it, I've got rhythms down and my improvisation could definitely be better but I can keep up with a 12 bar blues in any key.
