Fear of Failure
I love taking messages like this and sharing them with my kids and the players I coach but we can all apply this to anything we do in life. Such a great message from Coach Auriemma!! https://www.facebook.com/reel/2037575086589796?fs=e&s=TIeQ9V&mibextid=0NULKw

Good morning and Happy Easter Monday!! My oldest is transitioning from Middle School (8th) to a Freshman so an important summer ahead as he transitions to the next level: 1. Get stronger physically and athletically 2. Learn and adapt to playing faster 3. Improve defense on and off the ball 4. Improve mid-range game 5. Ball handling
AAU at What Age?
I’ve been approached a couple times about our 10 year old playing AAU this summer. IMO, at that age, the time is better spent training and working on improving their fundamentals. I’ve also seen some teams be put together for AAU and they then spend the summer getting beat bad. I do strongly feel AAU is beneficial but at what age?

Don’t Assume Athletes Know!!
#Mental Challenges for student athletes Many times we take for granted that kids know how to work through the mental challenges that come with competition. We as coaches and parents need to incorporate this into our practices and conversations with players/kids. Take 10 minutes at the beginning and/or the end of practice to talk with players. Ask them what their fears are or how they are feeling. Engage the conversation with topics and past experiences and discuss how to work through them. We use a communication tool at work called RELATE: Reassure, Explain, Listen, Answer, Take Ownership, Express Appreciation…when utilized it really engages the conversation and improves communication. One of my favorite quotes from a movie:
