I've shot many different recurve, longbow, and self bows over the years. Right now I'm grooving on a 50lb Hill style longbow I acquired in the early 1990s. Have been shooting it about a year now.
When I got started shooting a bow, the compound wasn't really on the market yet so it wasn't much of a choice. I shot a compound off and on for 4 or 5 years in the late 1980s but never really took to it and have been "trad" for over 50 years. I am so glad my dad and a neighbor introduced me to archery when I was 9 years old. And I'm glad I know what it was like to be a bowhunter before it was "traditional bowhunting".
@Grant Richardson My dad gave me a Shakespear Super Necedah for Christmas when I was 12. Shot it into my 20s. Then bought a DH Hunter and shot that one for years. I agree its the wood and lines for me too.
