Curious about AIDA retargeting setup
Everything makes good sense! Loved the analogy with why it's build like it is. Just practically i'm confused. How do you make the Phase 3 retargeting Custom Audience - do you exclude the video views 30 days - what to you do?

:) I like the technical question. Usually, the most important step is Phase 2(Interest) and Phase 3 (Desire) creatives all put together in a diverse retargeting audience. Usually we target 25%,50% Video Viewers, Page Visitors etc. For Phase 4 (Action) Retargeting, you can specifically only include Users that have triggered Add To Carts, Checkouts, or Payment Info Added, You can set Frequency to 2x,3x in 30days (has visited Page 3x in the time frame) in FB Custom Audiences. Something like this, but don't overthink it :) The Algo will know when to show which creative anyway :) You don't need to exclude top of funnel video viewers there because they are not included anyways. You don't need to exclude page visitors if you just target ATCs or Payment Info's. They are not in the audience anyways. Good Custom Audiences for Phase 4 (Action): 2x,3x Page view in 30d 80%,90% Video Views or creating an audience where multiple different videos have been watched e.g. 50% 30d AddToCart 14d Checkout 14d Payment Info 14d Depending on the creative, I use multiple of these segments/custom audiences in one campaign so that the algo has more flexibility. I indeed keep important retargeting steps that I feel have a lot of brand value or educational aspects in the retargeting with good budgets even though their KPIs look like complete trash because I calculate the importance of the creative in the overall multi-facetted customer journey experience. Purchase 180d always excluded on all campaigns. Hope this helps :)
