Introductions
Hi, my name is NIna. I live in the UK and plan to write a series of commercial medical thriller books with a female lead protagonist. I would like to get these 3 things from the community: # Information and updates on best practices on using AI LLM to cut down planning and outlining time and improve productivity. # To be part of a tribe that understands me. Not everyone does. # To support other writers at all stages of their writing careers. I am a traditionally published fiction author and have learned a few things in the past 20 years. For fun, I like to do these 3 things: Travel in Europe, especially the Greek islands, go to the movies, jigsaw puzzles.

Hi Nina. Have you read Tess Gerritsen's thrillers? She's a doctor and a great novelist.
Work In Progress
I'm working on a thriller about child abduction and abuse. I'm on the first draft. Ideas for the plot are set, but I'm strugling with US Police language and proceedings as I live in France.

I'm betting that ChatGPT and Claude can render a lot of help for you, if you craft your prompts carefully. Jason has great suggestions for how to structure prompts. Just apply that format to asking very specific questions about informal police terminology and dialogue. Make sure that you specify the time period and exact location, because slang across police departments can differ significantly.
WIPs
So, what are you all working on? I am working on a "The Lost Boys" inspired novel. There are going to be three to five books in the series. I also have outlines for a witches series of books.

I'm working on a prequel novel in my Dylan Hunter vigilante thrillers series. It answers a lot of implicit questions in the already-published trilogy (HUNTER, BAD DEEDS, and WINNER TAKES ALL). After that, I have sketched ideas and notes for at least nine more sequel novels.
Hi all!
Great to be among the 500 first ones here! I'm probably the oldest one here, 79 years. I'm an early bird in the Internet starting already before WWW. It's been an interesting journey. I have published fiction in Finnish. Now I'm working on Horse Ranger, a Western story. I translate the draft into English on the fly. The AI works better with English than in small languages.

Although I was a lifelong writer and editor of nonfiction, I didn't write or publish my first fiction -- a thriller -- until age 62. It became a bestseller. I hope that encourages some of you. I'm now 75 and still going at it. You're never too old to become a writer.
Q: What's your writing style?
Are you a Plotter or Pantser? ___________ Just in case you're new to this: PLOTTERS plan and outline their stories in advance, often with a detailed beat sheet or scene-by-scene outline. Plotters tend to write more efficiently because they know what needs to be written and what doesn't. PANSTERS write by the seat of their pants, inventing the story as they go along. Pantsers may have an idea or concept for their story, but they don't know where it's going. They may start with a blank page and let the story develop organically as they write.

I'm a Plotter -- not quite to the OCD extreme of JK Rowling, but close. I don't know how else I could possibly handle the complex storylines, large cast of characters, and multiple subplots in my theme-driven thrillers without planning it all out in advance -- especially since all those threads have to weave together at the climax. I use my own variation(s) of the classic 3-Act Structure, something I've also lectured about at writers' conferences.
