Burnt out.
Hi all, I spent a lot of my time this summer exploring research opportunities, shadowing opportunities,, and just a lot of cold emailing (using guided templates). In the end, I was only able to secure a very small, guided neuroscience internship which I played a small, but decent role in. The cold emails were what got me though; 60-75 emails and not a single reply. Does anyone have any ideas on how to secure other research (mainly hands-on) or internship opportunities?

@Syeda Zainab Fatima Not just internships, but research opportunities. In my area I have been competing in the regional science fair for 3 years now. Last year I came so close to being able to get to ISEF, but placed as a runner up rather than the top 3. All of the students ranking higher than me at the fair at some sort of connection with their school systems and high end research facilities near the university which I am 2 hours away from.

@Syeda Zainab Fatima Because I want a better more advanced project? There is not much I can do with the equipment at my school. And no local community colleges offer their equipment to high school students. Securing an internship like those in the metro area will give me access to good mentorship which will advance my project exponentially, as well as resources needed to complete a much more advanced project.
Creating a personal and organization website
Hey guys, so I am a rising junior and over this summer I plan to mainly study for the upcoming DSAT and create a website for me, and an organization I have created (still in the works). I have looked into some ways to build websites through online tools like squarespace or wix, but I wanted to see if anyone has any tips on how I can build my own website primarily through coding or means of not using an online subscription/tool.

@Rudaiba Tarannum Yeah, but its something I am interested in learning and maybe want to continue in the future.
Introduce Yourself in this thread!
Hey, my name is Rishab. I'm a student at Harvard College studying Neuroscience. I am most interested in Neuro x AI, and do research at Massachusetts General Hospital. I started coding when I was 6-years-old, making Android apps with my elder brother. When I was 13, I created a deep learning tool for segmenting the pancreas from CT and MRI scans, and was named one of TIME's 25 Most Influential Teens and America's Top Young Scientist. During COVID, as a freshman in high school, I made a Discord bot that reached 3M users, which taught me about product design and marketing. In my junior year, I started working on ICOR, which won Regeneron's Young Scientist Award at the International Science and Engineering Fair and was my first research publication. As a freshman at harvard, I am currently building ICOR further, and have also been involved in the education space, introducing research to young students. I am the chair of the International Research Olympiad — which reached over 3,000 students in its first year, and founder of the Qurios Institute — which help teaches research to young students. The Qurios team is currently building sciencefair.io under my guidance to help cultivate youth to get involved in science research through projects. Depends on the ones you get, I really like the Kaplan DSAT book, and its super affordable (~20) which is nice.
Dual Enrollment at Colleges
Hello, When is it a good time to start dual enrolling for classes at Colleges? 9th through 12th grade?

So I am in Maryland, but anytime in 9th - 12th grade is a really good time to enroll, especially because this is the time most, if not all students are within high school. Although dual enrollment classes are great, I would also recommend looking at AP or IB programs that your school offers.
