@Lawrence Raymond Any other good videos or resource recoomendations that are easy to consume to an E3 or E4 getting out of the military that gives surface level explanation of benefits they can get outside the military?
10 THINGS YOU NEED TO DO POST MILITARY
- File Your VA Disability Claim Immediately- Start the VA disability process before your official separation to ensure you receive benefits as soon as possible.(You can do this by yourself, but there are also companies that will file it for you for FREE. You should never Pay anyone to file it for you... Allot of companies will take advantage of veterans and promise to get you 100% disability if you pay them a portion of your disability for accouple months. Although not illegal I recommend you go through one of free ones first. Do a quick Google search or visit your local VFW) - Get Your DD-214 Ensure your DD-214 is accurate and accessible—it’s the key to unlocking most veteran benefits. (HAVE SEVERAL COPIES) - Schedule a Final Medical Exam (Separation Health Assessment) Document all medical issues with the military health system for future VA claims and healthcare. (KEEP COPIES OF EVERYTHING) - Sign Up for VA Healthcare Register with the Department of Veterans Affairs to access medical services and benefits. (FREE HEALTHCARE THAT YOU ALREADY RATE) - Enroll in Transition Assistance Programs (TAP) Take advantage of free workshops that guide you on employment, education, and benefits available after service. - Set Up an eBenefits Account Use the VA’s eBenefits portal to track claims, apply for benefits, and access personalized information. - Explore GI Bill and Education Benefits Research how to use your Post-9/11 GI Bill for college, certifications, or vocational training.(CERTAIN STATES HAVE EXTRA EDUCATION BENEFITS FOR VETERANS, MAKE SURE TO DO YOUR RESEARCH) - Check Eligibility for VA Home Loan Benefits Learn about VA-backed loans for purchasing or refinancing a home with competitive terms. (0% DOWN ON A HOME IS AN AMAZING BENEFIT AS A 20 YEAR OLD) - Register for State and Local Veteran Benefits Many states offer additional benefits like property tax reductions, free tuition, or job placement services.
