Howdy Everybody!
Well, everyone, I just wanted to stop by with a big Howdy! and introduce myself. I am a past church youth, adult, and children's choir director and have been leader and co-leader of our worship team for the past 24 years. I play flute and piccolo and am learning the clarinet. I am a mezzo soprano and sing mostly descant harmony to our pastor's tenor and his wife's soprano. When I have bronchitis, I can sing tenor rather well. :) I have a minor in music performance (primarily flute with some voice) and a BA in Modern Foreign Languages (French and Spanish) and a Masters Degree in PreK-12 Special Education. I am a certified K-6 Elementary school teacher and a 7th-12th grade certified English teacher. My day job is high school Life Skills teacher. I'm really excited to be a part of this group. Singing is my passion!

It's nearly September, that must mean starting to rehearse Christmas music, right?

@Sian Green I'm curious what kind of school that is.
How many music majors do we have here?
Tell me in the comments

@Julie Bomar Me, either!
Stop robo calls by using your musical knowledge!
Wouldn't you love to get telemarketers to hang up on you and take your name off their lists? Here is a way to use your choral abilities to cut way down on robocalls! I answer the call, and then speak only Latin. Usually I use the lyrics to O Come All Ye Faithful or part of a Requiem Mass. For example, "Adeste Fideles? Laeti triumphantes? Veníte?" By then, the person usually asks if I speak English and then hangs up when I say no because they can never figure out what language I am actually talking in! This has worked much more effectively than when I signed up for the Do Not Call list or when I just blocked the calls. Give it a try!

@Nikki Bold Give it a try! It is satisfying when the telemarketers end the conversation.

@Tammy Andrew That would be fantastic! I taught school for so many years and had to come up with my yearly goals. This would be one that I actually care about!
Virtual
@Jake Beal Any plans for what the next virtual piece might be? Are we going with something classical / historical?

I've been using these videos with my home chorus. I like that it shows the sheet music and the audio practice file at the same time. Plus, you can hear the other parts faintly, which helps with timing.It seems like they have a wide range of videos also. https://youtu.be/G4VJCuz4MRw?si=6yJLekeU0QbeS_D1
