Overuse Injuries/Stretching?
Curious if others have had a similar experience as the one I've found myself in. Personally the way I skate is very similar to what @Knejie Allen does in his videos where you are constantly transitioning with one foot pivots or snaps. As you can imagine this is pretty rough on your ankles and hips. One day I decided to skate for like 2 and a half hours all gas no brakes for most of it focusing on moves. I always make sure to stretch my hips, quads, hamstrings, and most importantly ankles before skating. So I was a little confused when I woke up the next day and had a dull aching pain in my heel and ankle. I guess there is a limit to how much skating you should do in one session. My queston to you all is what stretches or methods have you used to warm up your feet and lower body properly or help recover from something similar? Any stretching videos online that you recommend? I realize that nothing would help more than a trip to the doctor but I'd love to resolve this without that. ๐Ÿ˜… I think it's an overuse problem but it could maybe be poor technique or a low top boot that puts pressure in my heel too much without much ankle support. I just want to go skating again man been stuck in recivery mode ๐Ÿ˜”.

@Knejie Allen Oh crap, I definitely do the too late on a pivot thing you described. I had no idea stretching before could have that effect (I always thought it was beneficial whoops). It's great to get another person's thought on this so thank you. Especially when that opinion or knowledge could stop me from injuring myself. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘Œ

I live in Omaha, Nebraska. Its a little but north from Kansas City where Sk8shot Studios is at (about a 3hr drive). We don't have quite as large of a skate community as other places but its growing steadily! ๐Ÿ˜. Would love to come down to KC to see whats going on!

Pretty colours....!
Does anyone else choose their skates based on pretty / bright colours?! Although I'm a super novice I felt the need to get some with a bit of pazazz (even though my skills don't reflect yet!) These were the right price bracket for me for now - one day I can only aspire to the big guns of design your own! Lets share our pretty skates and tell everyone why they sang to you....!

Skate practice breakdowns or routines
Work/life/skate balance can be tricky. I'm not a huge fan of skating in my apartment, so I try to get to a rink for 1-2 hrs/ 1-3 times a week. While I would love to have more consistency, so many factors out of my control contribute to being able to skate only 2hrs vs 10hrs some weeks. I want to feel like I'm utilizing whatever time I get to spend on wheels to my best advantage. If you had only an hour to skate, how do you break up that hour? A percentage for: -warming up and doing fundamental drills -practicing new moves -just having fun and enjoying the flow I've been wondering lately what the skater version of a sun salutation is? Or the skater version of leg, chest, arm, back day routines? I'm not sure I'm explaining this well ๐Ÿ˜… But how do you bring consistency and track progress to your skate practice?
