Vocal question!
How do people deal with the vocal break, or transition from ‘chest’ voice to ‘head’ voice smoothly (I know they are not the right terms to use anymore, but don’t know are!😂)?

It's a practice thing. Try full range exercises like sirens (all the way from low chest to head voice and back down without breaking), yodeling, as well as mixed voice exercises (like the "zing" exercise) which will help you transition the resonance point forward into your pharyngeal sinuses.

@Tracey Vacher Do scales using “zing” (or sing). Basically that -ng helps with placement.

@Raydeen Belliard Yeah I had multiple video submissions too, but it's all good. I'm the one in purple with the mic visible, and my husband Mark is the one who is in there twice.
It’s too quiet…
What is everyone working on or practicing for right now? Our church choir is busily working on our Christmas cantata, “On This Shining Night”, and the community chorale that I’m in is putting the final touches on our fall concert that has a baptismal theme with every type of music from American Spirituals to Mozart!

Church choir getting ready for our Night of Praise, and I am finishing up the sheet music for a Christmas virtual choir I will be doing. (Hey @Jake Beal would I be allowed to ask people here to join once it’s ready?)

@Jake Beal I'm still working on it. However, I got handed some other assignments that are going to take up all my time, so I think I'm going to punt it off to next year at this point, since it's already almost November and I still haven't made guide tracks.
Back to school
It’s the first meeting back for my community choir after the Summer break tonight. None of them will have done any singing over the holidays, so what is your go to, ‘need to get back into it’ vocal or breathing exercise to start things off?

Howdy Everybody!
Well, everyone, I just wanted to stop by with a big Howdy! and introduce myself. I am a past church youth, adult, and children's choir director and have been leader and co-leader of our worship team for the past 24 years. I play flute and piccolo and am learning the clarinet. I am a mezzo soprano and sing mostly descant harmony to our pastor's tenor and his wife's soprano. When I have bronchitis, I can sing tenor rather well. :) I have a minor in music performance (primarily flute with some voice) and a BA in Modern Foreign Languages (French and Spanish) and a Masters Degree in PreK-12 Special Education. I am a certified K-6 Elementary school teacher and a 7th-12th grade certified English teacher. My day job is high school Life Skills teacher. I'm really excited to be a part of this group. Singing is my passion!

Yay welcome! (I may request your help with some foreign language singing later if that's ok?)
