Recording of Kirtan @ Inner embassy end of aug
I wanted to share a (shortened) version of last months kirtan I lead. In order to keep it educative, I feel there is work for me to be done in some ways. Of course I am not expecting anyone to listen to it all but if you want you are welcome. - I am now relying on my pump a lot also to crwate dynamics and rythm, however some teachers told me not to use the pump for it as it is often more inaccurate and can put others off. I should then straighten the sound to be more monotonous. However i am just using it instinctively and grown a bit attached to it. - My rythm sometimes is off, not vocally i think but on the harmonium, probably because of the previous - You cant notice here but i should be more present towards my band, the drummer especially. - Perhaps the presentation and explanation to the audience can always be better - I have some inherent resistance to changing the first two points but i think in order to grow i need to work on the rythm aspect, or at least the communicative aspect of how i play to the rest of the band Any feedback is appreciated

@Sanne Spee thanks for that feedback! I guess i should try to do it and experience the difference. Last week in London i had someone elses harmonium with a very stiff pump, that forced me to tone it down (i wasnt too happy haha). I think you are right about the expressiveness, my left hand got really an expressive vent and is not yet ready to give it up: frankly doing it different would be a concious effort at the, what i fear, expense of intuitive flow. E.g. i am not even sure how yet, do I aim for monotones/holding back the urge to pump rhytmically rather than pulsepumps? Perhaps i need to (re)watch a certain video of @Kenny Clarys for this? I cant remember any specific vid on this in the first 20 lessons is there? Many thanks!

@Sanne Spee ps. in case you may have missed that, i see you are from the NLD and said you want to join. Ido play in the hague relatively often. I think ill be back in NLD the 15th of november for a gig/community kirtan there where you could play one too if you feel like sharing. And a singing circle in Gotheburg this Sunday, in the off chance anybody will read this and wants to come :)

I hope if it is okay if i occasionaly post some current progress. At this point, since joining, my progress is still mostly based on what i do outside the course. This is an impression of a similarly named mantra on youtube, + me playing around with other mantras i play (just a little bit). The aim is still to progress in Skool, but you know, lots of things going on. And i had this sort of ongoing new astma thing for months. https://youtu.be/0edUnPT7eaI?si=rQt2_dxPLCLqaus4

Progress bar
Hi! Just a minor inconvenience, not an issue, but i have a new phone, could it be my progress bar reset to 0% progress? I would assume th progress is saved on server side not client side right? Anyways, i will just pick up where i left off @Kenny Clarys

We’re just getting started, so new content will be added regularly. Here are the next steps towards becoming an active member and unlocking your evolution in this community: 1. Create your personal profile, preferably with a photograph of yourself and some information about you. 2. Introduce yourself by commenting on this post. (✂️copy/paste template 👇) - Where are you from? - Are you playing harmonium or singing + what do you play/sing? - What specific things do you want to learn? - You can add a video or a picture of you playing the Harmonium/ singing. 3. Read our pinned post ‘Community Guidelines’. 4. Watch the video attached to this post to better understand how Skool works. And you’re ready to go! We recommend that you go through your course(s) in the Classroom section, and whenever you have a question, remark, idea or request be sure to post it on the Community wall, where it will get answered as soon as possible, by us and/or by fellow students. You can also post blogs, photographs or videos, for example of your own experiences or performances, or to provide some useful information for other members. Also music/song suggestions are most welcome. If multiple students agree that certain songs would be a great addition to Vocal Evolution or Harmonium Evolution, we can decide to include the teaching of that mantra, bhajan or kirtan in the course. This way we will together create an ever expanding music library, that you can freely access and learn from. This community was created to help and motivate each other to grow, so connecting with others is a crucial part of our courses. We wish you lots of joy through singing, making music and engaging here. To your evolution 🙏 Mari Joël & Kenny

@Kenny Clarys thank you Kenny! I have been a bit absent here due to work and travel. The good news is on my travel to Bali i played alot, in yoga shalas for different crowds in at least 10 settings, some up to 70 people. It reinvigorated my passion to play amd made me realize that i miss singing with people here in Estonia. I got a lot of different clips on my instagram. Hope its ok i post the handle here : soundjourneysn. Have some free days now so will see if i can progress with vids some more.
