China surges, I'm skeptical
I just watched a video by Daniel Pronk about the China surge and basically he's saying that the risk is priced in and the CCP is now basically funding these companies to buy back shares. This seems highly suspicious market manipulation. He goes on to share a clip of David Tepper talking about how China is an amazing investment. Again, am I being too skeptical? If I wanted to increase my position size or even hope for a pullback, would I go on national television yelling at people to buy China? Both of these angles seem like thinly veiled deception. I'm curious what everyone else thinks.

I'm personally avoiding China-related stocks, like EL and NKE severely limited by China exposure.

this is not pretty...
$1,200
Good morning, everyone! I am currently paying $1,200 per year to keep this community going. I don't mind paying that if it's valuable, but engagement has waned in recent weeks. (Including from myself!) Unless anyone has better ideas, I will plan to close the community over the next month. My wife and I are trying to save up to buy a "new" used car for our family to replace my 2011 Prius, so the savings will be nice. I will continue to post videos on YouTube, but my only other "community" will be on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/nathanwinklepleck

Rusty to Ready: Coding Tips for the Hobby Developer
No matter which programming language you use as a programmer you find yourself dipping in and out of coding. Whether you pick it up when you get inspired or need it for a specific project you might find that you are rusty and need to relearn certain aspects of the language you need. I have been a hobby programmer for several years working on personal projects and found myself in this situation many times as I come out of hiatus for projects. Below are some tips and resources to help get you back on your feet and back into your IDE as fast as possible. Start today but start small- You may get overwhelmed jumping immediately into complex projects so build smaller projects, bug fixing, or simple scripts. But most importantly start today because it's very easy to procrastinate and wait for "tomorrow" and tomorrow never comes. No excuses start now! -->https://code.visualstudio.com/Download Review your old work- Go through old projects and figure out what and why you did the code. You may also refactor and update the code if you learned to make it better and more efficient or apply a different method. You are your own greatest teacher. Embrace tutorial hell- Tutorials are natural for programmers. I'll still watch tutorials 30 years later no matter how experienced I become because it's impossible to remember everything and a waste of time to try. The key is to brush up on specific parts you forgot you don't need to watch a whole 12-hour tutorial again! Building projects is your top priority not watching videos. https://www.freecodecamp.org/ https://www.w3schools.com/ https://www.coursera.org/ https://www.youtube.com/@BroCodez/videos https://www.youtube.com/@freecodecamp/videos Plenty of other resources and apps but only use them to get to the IDE faster

ChatGPT is great for Python programming! I started this year and it's been super fun. Still don't know how to package it into a Mac or PC program, but I'll get there!
Projects and Tools Thread
We can use this to post tools, sheets, and code projects we build to help investors or ideas for fun. Anyone is free to post their own projects, excel, and code here. I am a bit rusty as I have been sick for a lot of the year but I whipped up some quick calculators for the Graham formula and Nathan's fair EV value modification yesterday. I built a binomial options pricing calculator for American options, Kelly criterion for trading, DCF, and probably more tools scattered in various files. I need to find them(got a new computer this year) update the source codes, and package them as an executable for Windows and an app for Mac users. Viruses, malware, scams, and other malicious software and intent will be a permanent ban. Files I share will include the source code, the exe/app, readme, and software license which will be an MIT license which means open source, modifiable, and very few restrictions comes without a warranty, and released from liability. Most of my current projects are CLI although I may build a GUI at some point or combine projects.

I've been investing personally since 2008 & professionally since 2012. (I'm a stock analyst.) I haven't sold a stock since 2020. 🤓 I love teaching!
