@Sarah Christiansen I think Christmas cookies taste better this time of year even if they are the same that you make during the year.

I would like to start making our own bread. One of our kids has a soy allergy and it is very hard to find clean bread. If I can learn then I can teach him!!!
New Ebook!
Hey Yall! Just published a good starter ebook for y'all to snag. You can view and download it here: https://www.skool.com/food-and-freedom-3309/classroom I’ll be adding another one in the coming days as well, but it won’t unlock until level 3. You “level up” when you post and engage with others in our community. FYI—It doesn’t rise much to get to level 3. Chat soon! Jake

Do you have low carb recipes too? My husband is diabetic and we try to limit carbs.

@Jake Widmann thank you very much
Discipline vs. Temptation
I had to make a trip back to our old house the other day to snag a few last items and pick up a few things my wife found on Facebook marketplace. I had already had a busy day doing stuff around the house so I didn’t get to eat a real meal. By the time I made it to our old house, did what I needed to do, and was heading back home it was roughly 6pm and I was starving. Unfortunately, in this modern society we’ve built…we’ve littered the roads with fast food restaurants too numerous to count. I probably passed 50+ just in a 10 mile stretch. However…I knew there were some tasty leftovers in the fridge at home that not only would be free, but much healthier as well. I still seriously debated snagging a hamburger or chicken sandwich from one of these places, but I successfully refrained. I don’t want you to think that being “healthy,” whatever that looks like for you means you can’t ever enjoy some greasy fast food from your favorite spot. But it does mean that you do need to pass these places by more often than not. In almost every instance…convenience is not our friend. When given two choices, one of them being convenience-based, and the other being a more traditional, slower option, the traditional choice is almost always going to be healthier (and likely cheaper). A quick example: you could buy a pound of more organic grass-fed hamburger from Aldi for $5-$6. It would take you 10-15 minutes to cook them up, but you’d have yourself four 1/4 pound all beef patties. On the other hand, you could get a tiny slice of beef cobbled together between two messy buns from McDonald’s and some over-salted French fries for around the same price. One of these will not only leave you feeling better internally, but will leave your wallet feeling better as well, since you’d likely have leftovers from not being able to eat an entire pound of hamburger. The moral of the story is sometimes you do need some solid discipline to stop yourself from pulling up to the drive thru for a “quick fix.” And other times you might just need to think through what your priorities are to determine if now’s the time for a treat, or if you should really save your wallet, and your waistline the stress of some questionable heavily processed food.

We like it more on the spicy side. Our grandkids love it. We usually just use SPG, and sometimes marinate in teriyaki We are looking for a good pork green chili recipe now. It’s great to have in the freezer for a quick meal.
