In Sri Lanka they waggle their head for "yes" in a way, which looks similar to "hmmm not so sure". Also for "okay" they would say "haha". So whenever my husband's mother asked me, what I would like to eat etc, I would give her a reply. So it happens that she would waggle her head, what I interpreted as "hmmm not so sure" together with laughing at me with the "haha". So all together it made me feel like "OMG, what did I just say? What is happening? Did I say something wrong?". But finally I got so used to it that I would waggle my head also..even here in Germany sometimes... Also something "weird" to me is not to say "good night" etc. It is simply normal in Sri Lanka not to say good night before you leave the room to go to bed. Also when you want to leave a place, they will just say "I go". But still my parents in law have to deal with me and I will wish them good night every evening or tell them, that we are about to go somewhere. They are too cute and hug me good night.
