How to Build Discipline Before the New Year
The New Year is right around the corner, but here’s the thing, discipline doesn’t magically appear on January 1st. It’s something you can start building right now, one small habit at a time. 1. Start Small Discipline is like a muscle—it grows with consistent effort. Pick one small habit you can commit to daily, like drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning or spending 5 minutes tidying up before bed. 2.Create a Routine Having a routine makes it easier to stick to habits. it’s all about prepping the night before, writing my to-do list or setting up breakfast so mornings feel less chaotic. 3.Track Your Progress There’s something so motivating about seeing how far you’ve come. Whether it’s a journal, an app, or just a checklist on your fridge, tracking your wins keeps you accountable. 4. Be Kind to Yourself You’re not going to get it perfect every day, and that’s okay. What matters is that you show up and keep trying. Progress, not perfection, is the goal. Discipline isn’t about waiting for the New Year to start fresh, it’s about starting now with small, intentional choices.

Reflecting on Your Year: A Simple Guide to Self-Assessment
As a busy mom of two and a freelancer, the end of the year feels like the perfect time to hit pause and take stock. Reflection doesn’t have to be fancy or time-consuming, it’s just a chance to look back and learn. First, let’s talk about celebrating wins. Sometimes, we get so caught up in the hustle that we forget to acknowledge the small stuff. For me, this year’s biggest win was finding a way to balance client deadlines with family life. Some days, it felt like a juggling act, but somehow, I managed to keep everything moving forward even if that meant throwing together a quick dinner most nights. Progress is progress, even if it’s a little messy. Then, there are the challenges. Let’s be real, things don’t always go as planned. Maybe it was a project that got delayed or the never-ending pile of laundry that just sat there mocking me. Instead of letting those moments drag me down, I tried to approach them as opportunities to learn. Asking myself, “What can I do differently next time?” helped me focus on growth rather than perfection. Finally, looking ahead to next year, I’m setting a goal to be more intentional with my time. Multitasking has its place, but I’ve realized that prioritizing one thing at a time—whether it’s work or spending undistracted time with my kids, helps me feel more balanced and effective. Reflection doesn’t have to be a long, drawn-out process. Grab a notebook, jot down your thoughts, and see what comes up. What’s one win you’re most proud of this year? Let’s celebrate the progress and keep building on it for next year.

Why Reflecting on Challenges Prepares You for Growth
Why Reflecting on Challenges Prepares You for Growth Challenges are part of life—we can’t avoid them, but we can learn from them. Reflecting on those tough moments isn’t about dwelling on the struggle; it’s about gaining clarity on what went wrong, what went right, and how we can do better next time. For me, it’s been transformative. When I look back on challenges, I can see where I was too hard on myself, or where I needed to pivot. Instead of getting stuck, I ask myself: What did I learn from this? This helps me focus on the lesson, not just the setback. How can I adjust next time? By reflecting, I can see what’s within my control and make better choices going forward. What’s my win in this situation? Even if things didn’t go as planned, there’s always a takeaway that propels me forward. Reflection isn’t about perfection. It’s about growth. It’s how I turn mistakes into stepping stones and build resilience for the next challenge that comes my way. What’s one challenge you’ve reflected on recently, and what did you learn from it? Let’s share and grow together!

@Erika Cardinale That’s such a great approach—balancing business and mom life is no small feat, but being intentional with your time makes such a difference. I’ve found the same thing with my kids. Explaining it to them and setting clear boundaries helps, and it’s amazing how understanding they can be when you’re honest about why it matters.

@Michelle McCartney Wow, that must’ve been such a big shift for you! Resting after a C-section is no joke—it’s so easy to want to jump back into everything, especially when you start feeling a little better. I learned that lesson the hard way too, and pacing myself made such a difference.
The Power of Self-Control: Small Actions for Big Changes
Self-control might sound like a buzzkill, but trust me, it’s a total game-changer when it comes to reaching your goals. It’s not about huge sacrifices or going all-in overnight—it’s the little, everyday decisions that really add up. For me, self-control looks like skipping that extra takeout meal, saying no to a late-night binge of Mobile Legends when deadlines are calling, or sticking to my plan to cook dinner at home, even when I’m tired and the idea of delivery sounds so tempting. Here’s how I keep self-control in check while juggling freelancing, mom life, and everything in between: 1.Know Your Weak Spots: My Achilles’ heel? Ordering in when I’m too tired to cook. Knowing this helps me plan ahead by keeping quick, easy meals in the freezer, hello, batch-cooking leftovers! 2. Start Small: I don’t try to change everything at once. If I skip takeout twice this week or stick to my to-do list for one whole day, I count it as a win. Progress is progress. 3.Track the Wins: Self-control can feel like a chore, but seeing how those little actions pile up makes it all worth it. For example, skipping takeout this week might save enough for a family movie night next week, total mom win! 4.Celebrate the Big Picture: Whenever I feel tempted to slack, I remind myself why I’m doing this. It’s all for that extra income for my family, the chance to live my dream freelance life, and the peace of mind that comes with having more control over my time and finances. Self-control isn’t about being perfect, it’s about showing up every day and making better choices, one small step at a time. What’s one little act of self-control you’ve practiced recently that’s made a big difference? Let’s swap stories and tips! 💕
