I launched a substack.
I recently launched a substack. I'm talking about trauma healing, recovery, and the messiness of being human. Would love for you to check it out: strategicleigh.substack.com

@Wendi Gordon I completely understand and have been there myself, many many times. If you send me your email, I'll give you a subscription.

@Wendi Gordon Thank you for these recommendations! I'm newly diving into all things trauma-related as I continue this mental health journey and it's always helpful to be in community with other folks on the journey.

In your introduction, answer these 4 questions: ➡️ What is your name (preferred pronouns as well, if you don't mind) ➡️ Why did you decide to join The Unexpected Shape Café? ➡️ What is your favorite book? ➡️ What are you interested in writing about? We can’t wait to meet you! If you'd like to share anything else as well, feel free! And welcome!

@Neva Talladen The title - Home is a Moving Thing - gave me chills. I often try to figure out what home means to me as someone who is reluctant to put down roots.

@Kat B Thank you!
What are you reading?
Right now, I’m reading and rereading Astrid Parker Doesn’t Fail, which is a comfort read for me—a sapphic romance novel. It’s interesting to go outside of my usual genres; I never read romance novels until very recently. At the same time, I’m reading a forthcoming memoir by Morgan Parker. What are you reading, and how are you feeling/thinking about it?

I just picked up a stack from the library including Astrid Parker Doesn't Fail. It's next, I just started Stephanie Foo's What My Bones Know: A Memoir of Healing From Complex Trauma. And I have a few more romance reads at the ready in case it's too much and I need a break.

My blog post: The missing ingredient in gratitude practices
I recently wrote a blog post on my Substack that seemed to really resonate with a lot of people. It’s about what’s often missing from gratitude practices: https://madelleine.substack.com/p/the-missing-ingredient-in-gratitude

I feel this: the need to process BEFORE appreciation. I think that's why I struggle with gratitude. Sometimes I get so angry just hearing the word. Funnily, appreciation doesn't conjure the same visceral response. Thanks for sharing.
