If I were to start over in Real Estate...
You were lied to. Making a lot of money as a real estate agent IS easy…..everyone just focuses on the wrong stuff. I’m 24, have sold over 600 homes, own a brokerage that employs over 40 people just over 1 year in. This is what I’d do if I had to start over…. 1. I wouldn’t read fear porn. Everyone has an opinion about real estate agents. Most of them are not one, never have been, and never will be. But they all seem to think real estate agents are going to be replaced or make WAY less money in the future. This is NOT the case. Believe in yourself first, and the rest will come. This starts by staying out of the social media threads that bash on realtors. 2. I would share my journey on social media everyday When I started, I didn’t do nearly enough to share my journey. I thought that if I guarded my daily struggles and just posted about my success, people would believe in me more. All that does is makes you MORE un-relatable and makes people question your authenticity when you do post about your WINS. Share the daily struggles of rejection, long hours, the slow months, and you will have more raving fans and “forever” clients than you ever would other wise 3. I would ALWAYS Stay Curious There’s a saying: “knowing is the enemy of learning” and it’s true in this business too. Some people feel like they need to put on a ficade for their clients so they trust you. But if you act like you know the answer when you don’t, that is the fastest way to LOSE trust. Just say “great question, let me find out and get back to you.” This will build trust and make clients always stay by your side 4. I would make sure to have 5 new conversations about real estate everyday New conversations turn into new clients. The more people you talk to, the closer you get to closing your next (or first) deal. That is the only control you have over whether you make sales or not. 5. I would pick 3 lead sources and stick to them Some agents try to pick EVERY lead source they can think of. This is the quickest way to spread yourself thin and get no business. FOCUSED action is what wins. Pick the path of least resistance to you taking action everyday (if you like social media- do that, if you hate cold calling- don’t do that)
