Grapevine progress
I took some lessons yesterday and worked on slowing down and being more comfortable in that A-frame position. I can’t wait to get better!

What to Drill when you didn’t plan to drill…
I need to become more comfortable with the basics to develop my personal flow. Any suggestions on best drills to have in the pocket?

@Knejie Allen, when you drill moves incessantly, do you worry about technique or drill the move as endless rough drafts to be refined through more attempts?
How many hours per week skating?
How many hours per week do you average on your quads? I go in and out depending on weather, time, other things, etc. but I'm shooting for at least 7-9 ( at least one hour practice per day 5 days/week plus one rink session where I can apply, try to flow and just play. I'd love to do more but need to be realistic about my time right now.

@Tina Kinsley When I first started skating, I watched Deb Harry's videos all the time. She was entertaining, informative, and clear.

@Janine McCarthy, I need to. I just hate the way I look. I got my friend to record me at today's session, and I might post it here to get feedback on what I should improve on.
Dance Class with KJ
Took that trip from St Louis to KC this weekend and got to do a dance class with KJ. I wasn't feeling good about that backwards walk, but KJ assured me I was doing good and that with practice it would get better and how shifting your weight is key. Really enjoyed that class. Thanks KJ for the dance lesson!💜🛼

I plan to take that trip because he's a great teacher from the videos I've watched of him. I love that he emphasizes the fundamentals and demonstrates how they are the building blocks of other moves. I also like that he teaches in progressions. I lift weights and the way to improve is through progressive overloads. If I can complete lifting 50 lbs, the next step is 55 lbs. That principle applies in skating as well. Master toe manuals, eagle spreads, and a-frames before doing grapevines—enough of my rant. I'm glad you were able to experience the class.
Uncomfy Skate 🫠 Any tips? 🤔
I’ve had my skates for about a year now, so they should be broken in enough! 🤷🏽‍♀️ I think my right foot is a bit bigger than my left because it always gives me the most pain but, it’s my dominate foot. I’ve loosened my strings a bit, changed the configuration of my lace, and bought shoe insoles. Any other ideas would be greatlyyyyy appreciated! 💡🙏🏾

What skateboot do you have? Is it stiff? I'm having the same issue. I have Risport Electras, and I've developed a bunion from wearing them. I'm not wearing them anymore because of the discomfort. I searched the internet for solutions, from heat molding to punching out the trouble spots, but I have decided to go to a shop that fits the skate for you.
