Let’s get to know each other! Comment below with where you're living, a fun fact about your relationship, and a word or phrase you’ve picked up from your partner’s culture. 😊 I’m Tina, and my husband Nacho and I are currently living in Buenos Aires. We met on Tinder back in 2016 while in Miami, and just a few months later, we got married and started our life together. One fun thing about us is that we mix in words from the places we’ve lived—like saying “potati” (Sweden) instead of potato and “schubschub” (Slovakia) when we’re in a rush. We’ve moved around a lot—from living with roommates in Miami, to a small studio, then spending 1.5 years in my childhood room in Germany, and even living in a van on just 5 square meters! Now, we’re finally somewhat settling in Buenos Aires, it’s never boring!

Hi! My name is Jessica (Jess or Jessi), and I’m from Medellín, Colombia. My partner is Sam from the USA. We met a year and a half ago at a language exchange in Medellín. He asked me to teach him all the "paisa" words (which is the dialect of Spanish spoken in Medellín), but it turned out he already knew them all! I used to be a scientist when I lived in Medellín, but I quit my job 5 months ago to become a digital nomad along with Sam, who's a software engineer. We spent 3 months in Buenos Aires, and now we’re in Rio de Janeiro. Our plan is to keep traveling for a couple more years and eventually settle down in Medellín. Before meeting Sam, I barely spoke English, but now I do interviews and participate in groups where I communicate in English. Something funny about our relationship is definitely the Spanglish! A word from our cultures? Well, in Medellín, we have this habit of adding a cute diminutive to almost everything, and now Sam does it too—it’s adorable. Sometimes we even do it in English!
