Hold Down Help - Tile Gaskets w/ Vacuum Table?
I'm desperately seeking the Holy Grail of hold downs. I do a lot of parts which are profile cuts and each one is a crap shoot if it has to be very accurate. The CNC that I have has is a MultiCam44# that the prior owner added an industrial Vacuum Table to. The vacuum isn't sufficient to hold down the wood/plywood w/o additional fasteners of some sort. I'm wondering if Tile Gaskets really work as well as advertised. Having said that I then wonder if a DIY version would be available using neoprene adhesive backed sheet or roll gasket and have a pattern of drill holes 1/8" deep to DIY? Tabs don't seem to work great, etc. Very Frustrated. I'd like to use Vcarve Pro 12 to make some boxes but I can't be sure they won't break loose and lose the integrity of the parts/box.

I’m Ryan, the founder of this group and a passionate CNC entrepreneur. I’m super excited to have you all here. This community is all about helping each other grow, learn, and create with CNC machines—whether you’re just starting or looking to take your skills to the next level. Here’s a little about me: - I’ve been working with CNC machines for 10 years, building a business and helping others do the same. - My favorite thing about CNC is turning a simple design into a product that people love. - Fun fact: I love Bourbon and Tequila, and have over 100 bottles in my collection/stash Now it’s your turn! In the comments, let us know: - Your name and where you’re from - What stage are you at in your CNC journey (just starting, hobbyist, business owner, etc.)? - What you’re most excited to create or learn with CNC - A fun fact about yourself! Hello, I'm Jeff Denig from Prairieville, La The last year and a half has been quite a journey. My wife said.... I think I'd like to do some woodworking. Well, that seemed like a green light to buy some used (some say antique) equipment. I'd always wanted a Table Saw so I ran to New Orleans and bought one from a guy for 40 bucks. Soon I realized that a jobsite tablesaw wasn't going to cut it. I learned about Powermatic, Unisaw and Sawstop. I started buying saws to flip. Now I have 10 table saws, myriad Lathes, Planers, Jointers, Bandsaws, etc. I have everything from pen turning lathes to a (surprise, it's 440 vac) 1946 Oliver that weighs about 2500#. I had a guy at work who was moving to Germany and he said - I have a CNC Router that you might be interested in. It is a MultiCam 44+ that a man used to start and operate his Sign Business. I bought it an gutted it. I've been consumed with it ever since. It now has a G540 driver, the original 2.2KW Spindle and runs on Mach3 with Vectoric 12 Desktop. No Limits or Auto Tool Zero yet. I'm working on that. It also has an industrial vacuum table that I'm still working out the kinks on and probably going to move to some Tile Gaskets soon to complete the setup. It has been a daunting journey to get to this point. Learning the software - cad/cam, motion software, etc and what hardware is compatible with each has been a challenge. However, It has been rewarding as I've figured it all out. I'm 60 and in the Valve Business for 30 years selling into the Petro/Chem and Midstream sector. I've owned several fledgling business over the years. I'm hoping to grow this into a "retirement business" over the next 5 years. I'm also thinking that I might be able to start a Makerspace here in this area. I'm a member of Nolaworks Makespace in New Orleans which is roughly 60 miles away.

Just getting started. I bought a MultiCam 44+ from a guy at work and I gutted it and started over with a G540. Mach3, Vectoric Desktop. Runs Barely.
