My first video post
So here’s a post of me trying to improvising over a hard-ish rock backing track. Would really love some honest feed back from the community and instructors here at GuitarZoom as yo where I can improve my playing. Thank you so much for watching. https://youtube.com/shorts/baI831WLKFo?si=H63cAVd0ezROjLc2

@Lethabo Arabella thank you
I’m broken
Like Pantera I’m broken, just not in the same ways. We had a water leak to start the weekend out, so I’ve spent most of my time digging up the water line, but still got at least 15 minutes each day on guitar. For those who don’t know; I have sever spinal damage that prevents me from doing most things. I just want everyone that wants to be great on guitar (like myself) to know the importance I put on my music. No matter how bad it hurts (and it does hurt on days like today) I still pick up my axe and put in at least 15 minutes of fundamental practice, ie scales, triads, and at least one riff or kick. No matter what, I can always play guitar in my mind, which is so important and helpful to your progress Thank you for reason J.

@Donna Macauley that’s right🤘. I hope your surgery goes well and you get back to rockin out standing up very soon. 🤘🎸
Need ideas on distortion pedal
I have ds1w and proco rat 2, just looking for ideas on different pedals. Sound I'm looking for is more of a Zakk wylde. I do like the crunch channel on Marshall pushed by tube screamer. Was also wondering about the blues driver and boss super overdrive. (zakk uses) One can go broke just buying pedals. Inputs annnnndddd GO!

@Cliff Flurry personal I feel like ‘and just for all’ was the last great album. There’s not one song of theirs I don’t like from justice for all and older. I lost interest once the black album dropped. Cliff really brought a lot to the table, and justice for all the just dropped the bass and played it the way they would have with Cliff.

@Cliff Flurry I have to confess, my memory was all mixed up. I said the Supra Distortion pedal was my go to for Metallica, I was not remembering correctly. I just came across my old set and as soon as I saw them it all come flooding back….DOD Classic Tube was my Metallica pedal and the Supra Distortion and a super overdrive was what I used for like ac/dc and other classic rock tunes. But it was the Classic Tube pedal that I used for heavy metal. I apologize for the mix up in my memory.. Here’s the setup I used for about 15 years from 1998 til 2013.
It’s been a minute
I just wanted to make a post and let everyone know I’m still alive and riffin. I’ve been trying to get things situated so I can start posting videos. I Hope everyone is doing well and for anyone who has been effected by these recent hurricanes in the US, just know my family is keeping you in our hearts and prayers.

Hello!
Hi folks! I picked up guitar during COVID times, self-learned a few melodies and licks. Then I gave up on guitar because it started causing shoulder and elbow pain in the strumming arm, despite doing arm warm up before playing the guitar. I am back at it because it felt good to play. I hope to be better at it, so I can play among friends.

I totally understand the pain. Unless there is more to it (like with me, I’m disabled) I think you might just need to slow down during part of your practice time and focus primarily on relaxing. I know most of my pain on my strumming side is due to playing tense. After spending some time practicing relaxed at lower tempo's I was able to play even faster long term. I’m sure there’s a video on YouTube that can help, but honestly, if you pick something mind numbingly easy to play, you can focus on where and when (ie what tempo) you begin to tense up, then just make a conscious effort to relax.
