How do you guys feel about Muay Thai fights in 4 oz gloves? Do you love it? Hate it? If so why? I'm not sure how I feel about it. I recently tried sparring in MMA gloves and it was a total wake up call to how different it is.
I personally think it's a different sport, because it's part of a larger change to the Muay Thai ruleset that fundamentally alters how the combatants engage. That being said, it's very entertaining and I love that there is a path to make a legit living in Muay Thai
I am planning on doing video podcast (Only Available here!) with experts in various aspects of combat sports. Mindset Coaches Performance Nutrition Coaches Combat Strength and conditioning Professional Fighters What questions do you have for the various experts!?
This is a great idea! I'm mainly concerned with how to improve outside of class, so I would love to know: 1. What key technical aspects should I prioritize during solo training to ensure proper form and technique without a coach's immediate feedback? 2. How can I effectively structure my solo training sessions to balance skill development, conditioning, and recovery? 3. What are the best ways to simulate sparring scenarios and develop fight awareness when training alone, particularly on the heavy bag or shadowboxing? 4. How do you recommend I work on my footwork and rhythm in isolation, and what drills would best replicate real fight movement? 5. What mental strategies or visualization techniques can I use to stay sharp and focused during solo training?
Is there a technique you're having a hard time mastering? A style that is giving you a hard time in sparring? Maybe you gas too fast? Let me know! I am here to help you all along your journey! So Feedback on what you want to learn next is super helpful!
1. Many of the bagwork programs or tutorials out there are based on either combo work or using the bag for power and cardio. I'm more interested in seeing how the bag can be used to develop timing and footwork. 2. I train at a gym 3x a week, but those are larger group sessions. I would love to get more deep dives on how to improve during solo training and ways to establish a feedback loop on your own. If you record yourself, what to look for, drills to correct things you notice, etc...
