Thank you to those who showed up to the portfolio review! I would like you all within the next week to apply the advice given. I've posted a new portfolio guide video in the classroom for all of you to watch! Once you're done, I want you to share your new portfolio links so we have clear before and afters. Hey! I wasn't able to make it to last week's portfolio review as well (because I didn't have one haha). I made one following the tutorial in the classroom a couple days ago. I appreciate any feedback! https://jachuarts.carrd.co I just have the very basic template/model of the website, and will add more images/videos or colours eventually.
Editing Influences
Who or what are some of y'all's biggest influences as editors? For me, as far as other YouTube editors go, Zade (Cody Ko) and Archie (The Yard, Tommy Innit, Shotgun Willy, etc) are easily the two who inspire me to try and be more creative and ambitious. And I'd say Scott Pilgrim vs. The World got me interested in cool vfx when I was a teenager; typically all of Edgar Wright's movies have really snappy editing styles that resonate with me (Baby Driver is my fav movie of all time) I'm always looking for more inspiration and share some of my own, let's chat!

I have so many influences that I can't even count haha. In terms of editing style, people like AsumSaus and Anthpo had a great influence on my editing style. It's specifically the way they use motion graphics and special effects and their simple smooth style of storytelling. I also really like SovietWomble's use of captions. In terms of actual editors, Mudan and Hayden Hillier-Smith play a role teaching specific techniques and ideas.
What's up guys, introduce yourselves

- Canada - I'm down to edit anything, but mostly I've edited a lot of gaming videos and skits. I've been editing video essays and reviews of media as of recently. - I often play video games with my friends and watch anime/ read manga. I''ve recently picked up photography and working out.

@Marvens Dorcelian Hello! Normally I play whatever games me and my friends are into at the time (Overwatch and Left 4 Dead 2 currently), but on my own time I've been playing JRPGs like Octopath Traveler and Persona 3. When it comes to anime I've kinda took a break, but I'm still watching Frieren and To Your Eternity haha. I've more so been reading a lot of manga now.
How long have y'all been editing and what did you start with?
My first editing software was an iPhone app called VizzyWig. Basically all you could do was piece together shots that were already taken. You couldn't make cuts or anything like that. The only fancy feature it had was the premade intros you could insert and the customizable rolling credits. After that I got a really old version of Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 12 which I used for about a year or two. Been using Premiere ever since. That was almost 9 years ago.

I started back in 2017 with WeVideo, which is an in-browser video editor. My school gave the students a license to use it, so I messed around in there for a while to understand the basics of editing. It didn't allow for many options than cutting videos and simple transitions, so I switched to Premiere Pro for more accessibility in 2020. I have been editing videos (seriously) for about 4 years inconsistently.
