Productivity tip! - Help Make Our Group the #1 Most Productive on Skool! 🚀
With our endless to do lists and wish lists of things we intend on doing someday, I've found it's key to actually schedule for our priorities (first working out what those priorities are!) and making sure a date and time is blocked out to 'do the thing'... Which reminds me so set a task card in my Trello board for next week to resume my classroom coursework in this community! I find if I don't brain dump and then schedule it - it simply doesn't get done.

@Holly Wittwer I turned to Trello for that exact reason - everything was everywhere and I had too many tabs open in my brain to function effectively! There are tons of different project management tools out there as @Blake Willard mentions. Finding one that works for you is key - but even just playing around with one for a few days gives you the feel for them, or of course there are copious youtube videos you could get lost in! Give yourself a time limit to consume and see what fits - you don't have to commit to anything that isn't making life easier.
@Blake Willard I love Trello for the simplicity of function and visual mapping of ideas it allows for my brain... but now I see your Figma Board workflows and I'm curious about those... fun times ahead to be exploring that sometime in the future - thank you!
What’s Your Style of Homeschooling? 🌍🌿
I’d love to know—how do you homeschool? Do you do schooling at home with you as the teacher? Do you use online tutors, traditional methods, or perhaps wildschooling, worldschooling, or unschooling? Maybe you follow a forest school approach? We all have different methods, and that’s the beauty of homeschooling—there’s no one-size-fits-all! What works best for your family’s unique needs and passions? Share your style and any tips you’ve picked up along the way! 🌱✨ #HomeschoolingJourney #FamilyLearning #DifferentPaths

Great questions! We are still just in our first official year of homeschooling, and it's been a real learning curve for us all. What I believed at the start of the year with the approaches and methods I thought I would adopt, have almost taken a 180! I come from a teaching background so I never really 'sweated' the academic side of things... however, I greatly underestimated and overlooked many other areas and aspects of homeschooling. Through the Homeschool Mastery Group and this community, I've been able to dig deep and address family values, question beliefs, designing goals for our unique needs and I've loved finding learning opportunities in our every day lives. As my husband works full time, I am the primary 'home educator', but I tend to lean further away from my teaching background and closer into an unschooling approach than I imagined. For right now, it's what is working best for us, in this season. My kids are still young, so we do a lot of play based learning and I let their imaginations lead the way - drawing out learning experiences in what we are doing together. I've not purchased any sort of curriculum, and right now, I'm not sure I will. As they get older, perhaps it'll be something I look into more, but for right now, it doesn't feel necessary. In our future I hope we will manage to explore some world-schooling adventures too. I'm an avid traveller and can't wait to share world experiences and culture with them. For anyone unsure if homeschooling is for you or your family - I'd suggest you find your unique 'why' and start with the end in mind to truly envision the type of young adults they will become.
@Holly Wittwer it's funny you mention this, because I've only heard the term 'eclectic' in relation to homeschooling just recently and haven't learned much about the style... yet! I think as we all search for ways to help our kiddos learn best to fit their needs, we ultimately create our personalised amalgamation of approaches that work for our unique situations. What works one year, may require a different approach the next... becoming the learners ourselves alongside our kids, helps us to ensure the best fit for whatever season we are in. I love this community space for learning together.

@Holly Wittwer Haha! I love this! I was exactly the same and openly admit to a hardcore binge of as much as I could, to absorb and learn through osmosis 'all the things'! I continually learn something new, gain insight, reflect on a different perspective or just feel valued and supported. This is the place to be!
Do you feel unqualified to teach in your homeschool?
I was having a homeschool dinner party yesterday with a group of parents actively interested in homeschooling. The point of the meal was to have an open forum and answer questions about homeschooling, encourage one another, and ultimately share a vision for homeschooling that will transform an entire family. One of the biggest challenges I help parents overcome is helping parents gain confidence and feel qualified to homeschool. This dinner party was another picture of how important it is to help parents establish real confidence and qualifications to homeschool. These parents included an engineer, a chef, an esthetician, a flight attendant, a stay-at-home mom, and an educator to name a few. All very intelligent and competent people, who I know personally. But here is what was so fascinating: each of them felt unqualified to teach or that they didn't have any skills they could teach. And yet each of them could name skillsets and strengths in others that they would be amazing at teaching. What does this show? We as parents have a propensity to question our abilities and doubt ourselves more than anyone else. Now just imagine taking that lack of confidence into your child's education and trying to lead from that perspective. How do you think it is going to go? Here is the thing. We all need help. Whether it is in gaining real, tangible skills as home educators to provide a high-quality education to our children, or having accountability and guidance to ensure you are setting clear, achievable goals, or both. I realize that many of you in this community are struggling with some combination of imposter syndrome and genuine deficits in areas where you need to grow. Just like all the parents at dinner last night. I'd like to extend an offer to you, just like I did with these families: Take a step to better qualify yourself and increase your confidence. Commit to giving your children the best education possible, not just good enough. And ensure that you are absolutely on track to long-term success.

Do you feel unqualified to teach in your homeschool?
Without the shifts in mindsets that the Homeschool Mastery Group helped me to achieve, I'm not sure I'd be as confident in this journey or even in the decision to continue homeschooling. I highly recommend to anyone who has any doubts to Book a free Discovery Call with @Blake Willard. The transformation for our homeschooling journey may have taken years of struggle and upset compared to where we are right now. Forever grateful.

This lends perfectly to the productivity tip I offered earlier - I know I struggle to do anything for 30 minutes uninterrupted - so breaking down 'the thing'... in this case the Intro to Homeschooling mini-course into the smaller chunks as suggested here, makes it much easier to schedule, action and stick with!
