Ten Years in India: The Life of a Foreign Woman
Sarah, an American expat, relocated to Mumbai two years ago, driven by a desire to experience India's unique culture and professional opportunities. Immersing herself in India's diverse traditions, Sarah appreciates the vibrant festivals, the warmth of the people, and the deep-rooted history. Despite facing occasional cultural differences and language barriers, she finds India's affordability and the rich social fabric deeply fulfilling. 1.Perceptions of Indian Professionalism : Sarah challenges stereotypes about Indians being unprofessional or always late, noting that while some parts of the country might seem unprofessional, many Indians are as punctual and skilled as professionals anywhere else. 2.Wealth Disparities: Sarah describes stark contrasts between extreme wealth and poverty in India, with rich people living in luxurious conditions right next to impoverished areas, a phenomenon she finds strikingly unique. 3.Safety Concerns in Delhi vs. Mumbai: Sarah has lived in India for nearly a decade, finds Delhi unsafe for women at any time of day, contrasting it with Mumbai, which she finds generally safer despite occasional dangerous situations. 4.Positive Experiences: Despite safety concerns, Sarah highlights positive experiences such as Indian hospitality, where people have helped her out of challenging situations and demonstrated remarkable generosity. 5.Cultural Insights and Misconceptions: Sarah reflects on how India defies common stereotypes, revealing that while some aspects of Indian life are as exoticized as portrayed in media, many people in India share global interests and lifestyles, contradicting the often one-sided portrayals of the country. Exploring Culture: Why This British Expat Chose India For Life
Jamie, a British expat, moved to Delhi three years ago, seeking a vibrant lifestyle and new opportunities. Embracing India's rich culture, Jamie enjoys its diverse cuisine, warm hospitality, and unique experiences. Despite communication challenges and occasional cultural friction, he finds India's lower cost of living and dynamic social scene rewarding. 1. Misconceptions and Lifestyle in India: Jamie states the misconceptions about India are pervasive, often influenced by media like "Slumdog Millionaire." Contrary to stereotypes, India offers a rich cultural experience, amazing food, and stunning places to visit. 2. Cultural Integration and Social Dynamics: Jamie has adapted well to local culture, handling spicy food and navigating social dynamics despite occasional resentment due to colonial history. He notes the pressure on education in India due to its large population. 3. Language and Communication Challenges: Although Jamie is a native English speaker, he faces challenges in communication due to differences in accent and sentence construction. He has adapted by simplifying his speech and attempting to learn Hindi. 4. Food and Social Life: Food plays a central role in Indian society. Jamie enjoys a variety of local dishes, with butter chicken and masala dosa being his favorites. He also notes the vibrant social scene, including frequent restaurant and bar openings. 5. Cost of Living and Quality of Life: Jamie finds the cost of living in India to be significantly lower than in the UK. Services like personal trainers, home help, and food deliveries are more affordable, allowing for a higher quality of life. He spends about $12 for a personal trainer and $12 for a main course at a nice restaurant. Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0phzthJsoOQ

This portal is incredible if you want to conduct due diligence on companies from India (i.e potential trade partners you want to do business with). You can find the financial details, health, registration status etc. To access a company's detailed report you may need to spend 3-5 dollars.
