Nitrogen, Carbon is King!
Gabe Brown is one of those guys that has been around for a very long time and has real life experience in keeping a health living soil thriving. I wanted to show you what plants are made from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. 45% - Carbon 45% - Oxygen 6% - Hydrogen This leaves only 4% and Nitrogen makes up 1.75% of that. What should we be adding to the soil?

I had one on a bridge I worked on. Was a convenience for the guys. Until one day someone decided to joke and left a M-80 in it. That created a logistical problem for me. Do I laugh about it now? Hell yes! LoL
Has anyone watched this?
Found this today. I haven't watched it yet but will be tomorrow.

In about 20 minutes and love it! Be back to finish. I’ve been wondering how to preserve my soil after a grow. Cannabis uptakes large amounts of nutrients so I know preserving may be difficult. Looking for answers. I hate waste.

@Aubrey Kimball hello Aubrey. I grow in tents. Currently one in the house and one in the garage. And you? How does your garden grow?
Gophers kick up fungi. Beautiful demonstration of the importance and value of living soil. My first post. Howdy.

Thank you Denis! First story I read this morning. Great way to start the day. With a smile.

@Dennis Wichter Those are pretty! No, I haven’t used them. A lot of people do though. I need to learn a bit more about it for sure. Thanks for the tag Dennis. Appreciate.

@Dennis Wichter I have a 50 L pot ready to receive a plant once it enters Veg state. The top is covered with about 1/2” of clay pebbles. A bit of an experiment for me. My intent was moisture retention and pest deterrent. Also, keeping leaves off the soil surface. PH will be something I need to monitor closely. Definitely checking out Ollas. This may be an answer for my brother who has had moisture issues. Growing in central California.
But how?
A living soil need a whole ecosystem to thrive. If things are missing the system fails and pest and diseases move in. This means keeping things the soil near roots healthy and full of life will keep the system operating as it should. Before planting get food, air, water, and microbes down into the root zone where it matters.

Not usually since I grow seedlings in the exact same soil recipe. On occasion a seedling is lanky and I’ll bury the stock deeper than usual. In that case yes. During transplanting, I will feed a small dose of B12 from the top. If you have a suggestion that I can improve upon, your thoughts are welcome and appreciated.

@Dennis Wichter That’s a great idea! I’ll plan on it. Probably be like a little kid waiting for Christmas to come. I do add some minerals and so do your worms. Got about a thousands new friends! LoL

I’ve grown mostly exotic plants over the years. Orchids predominantly. Love the idea of a complete living ecosystem in Living Soil.
