Filling walls with solid fill
After watching a tutorial on architectural drawings in trace, I followed the instructions on creating walls, then in a new layer, trying to apply smart fill. Not sure why, no matter where I set the slider on tolerance, the whole screen fills. Seems to not recognize the wall lines on the New layer? I was told that if the new layer is yellow, as in selected, the smart fill wont recognize the wall lines in another. Layer? If this is true how do I accomplish filling in walls on a separate layer?

Joey, You are correct in your assumption about the yellow layer. Please help with my confusion but I gather you can make a layer active without double tapping and turning the tab yellow? Correct me if I'm wrong. That seems to be the fix for my issue. Not sure, (if I'm correct), why you would be able to make a layer active 2 different ways. On the other hand, if I am correct that you can make it active without turning it yellow, why is there no indication that this layer is the active layer?
