In yesterday’s Q&A call, I shared a surprising byproduct of building my brand. I could sell one of my current journal brands for more than $1,000,000 Making my journal business an asset of incredible value. Making it truly life-changing, really. Traditionally, people invest in the stock market or in property. I also invest in the stock market a little bit, but honestly, I don't know as much about it, and the ROI is worlds apart. In order to get to the same valuation, my investment capital would have to be really big. I started my $1,000,000+ asset with less than $3000 only a bit over three years ago. Of course, it took a little bit more than that. Over the past years, I reinvested profits, and I funded new projects by adding print-on-demand offers. And most importantly, I was willing to play the long-term game. Now, a few years down the road, I have built a security blanket that soothes me. While I am an adventurous person, I took many risks in life and traveled the world. I loved that aspect of feeling like I lived fully. ( here is my old Instagram account) At the same time, I have a painful awareness that life can be unpredictable and things out of our control can happen. I think back to my childhood and seeing my mother get cancer in her mid-30s; despite being very healthy…Unfortunately, she never made it to her 40s. This confronted me with death very early. Then the father of my older son also died unexpectedly when I was 26. At that time, I realized I needed to really build security and do the things I wanted to do NOW and not later. There is no guarantee in life. For a long time, I had a deep desire to create security for my kids, family, and me. Knowing that I have an asset that I could sell anytime (pretty quickly, even) for A LOT of money gives me peace of mind. This is also the reason why I have created yet another journal brand and am partnering up with two incredible women to build a 3rd stationery brand.
