Also, should you travel to the USA to open bank accounts in person, or can you trust remote service providers to open accounts remotely? Is it safe?

What is the most accessible and economical way to obtain an ITIN as a foreigner and non-US resident? James has a video course about it, but I hesitate to send something directly to the IRS. I know their responses do not exist, and the waiting time of 3 months in a successful scenario is already too much. I am afraid that I will wait another 3 months if there is a mistake, or even worse, no reply at all even after 3 months and I have to repeat the process again. Do you know a certified IRS agent who can verify online without physical presence?
